Assume I won't be the only one but was informed yesterday I've been cleared for press for MCM next month. I know a lot of folks here who used to cover it no longer go, so assuming there's announcements I'll be aiming to cover those.

This can be a tricky thing because it's a relatively recent trend. For the longest time it used to be that your ticket or pass granted you access to effectively everything bar separate ticketed adjacent events (case in point, way back when AL rented out a nearby small cinema to offer the MCM...

Just got out of Akira. I'd only seen chunks of the Cam Clarke dub on Channel 4/Sci-Fi, so happy to have finally seen the full Japanese original on the big screen. Admittedly could have done without the 3 guys who arrived 25 minutes late and spent the rest of the movie loudly chatting...

Ah! I admit I stumbled on it on Instagram and worried my chickens were coming home to roost...

To be honest, as much respect as I have for Henson, Bowie and both movies, I'm confused why an anime company is releasing them. Yes, I know anime in Japan isn't as insular as 21st century westeners have made it but it feels like a real reach to be applicable.

Stumbled on the American me. Seriously though, this does make me wonder how much of the dissatisfaction I and others express comes down to the rights holders not being interested in playing ball. If the release is bare bones in America of all markets...

Per some posts popping up on Instagram this evening, seems AL did an Akira event in London for influencers.

Seems local cinema has an early evening showing of Akira on Monday so think I'll hold off for that. Probably missing community vibes by not being present for a Friday night showing but feel like crap right now.

EDIT- I've been on the other side of the table before but my belief in karma genuinely thinks maybe I should go for this if only to see how many licensor pitfalls there are getting a UK Gundam release to retail when it's my responsibility.
