UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

Any reason why the movies you put out in cinema only a handful of cities get them? Mainly london? Surely if you have some sort of deal with odeon you would screen them all over the country? Im guessing a miku who cant sing will also be a handful of cities?

In short, that simply isn't how theatrical releases work. We don't have a "deal" with cinema chains, we offer up our titles, give a general indication of our expectations and advice for how widely it should screen (for example, a major release like One Piece Film Red or Spy x Family is always going to be a large scale - or as we call it, a "platform" release - across a large number of sites, while something small like a JUNK HEAD is best suited to a small but targeted number of screens), and from that point it's down to the cinema chains to decide if/how they want to support the film, at how many locations and where.

This is why we always tell people to let your local cinema know if they aren't screening films you want to see - we don't get a "menu" of locations to choose from, that's down to the cinemas to decide, and as much as we feed them our thoughts on locations we'd recommend based on data we have access to and word of mouth, nothing beats directly telling the cinema chains what they should screen and where, and then support screenings when they do happen.

As for COLORFUL STAGE, we're still finalising that but we expect it to be a wide release with plenty of locations, but watch this space!

Has Woodpeckers Detective Office CE shipped yet? I didn't pre order but would like to get it but it states on the website it's still a pre order despite supposedly releasing a month ago?

Quick question; can anyone confirm whether Tamako Market & Love Story Collectors Edition from AL is region A as well as B?

It's on Norm's blog which would be 99% good enough for me but I'm selling the set so want to be 100% sure.

I've just had a look at mine but it doesn't show the region codes anywhere on the packaging unfortunately so I couldn't confirm. Hopefully someone else can help 👍

I bought Arcane S2 i CE edition, due to fact that looks amazing, I remember how quick S1 was sell out (and I almost didn't manage to buy it) and my membership will be disappearing in next 2 days.
Considering how Arcane Season 2 was not as well received by the audiences as the first season I don't think the CE edition for season 2 will sell out as quickly.

Did anyone ever get any joy with the Place Farther Than the Universe disc replacement? I've run into the good old "ignore till they go away" issue that has plagued many others unfortunate enough to have had cause to contact AL customer "service". Used contact form and email, etc.

In 25 years of shopping online, I can't think of many companies worse to deal with than AL.

Yes, I did. However, it involved going on the Discord channel and messaging Hanners, who shipped me a standard edition of the show, which includes the corrected disc.

I had tried using the regular contact form with no luck, until someone on here recommended trying Hanners on Discord.

They gave me a copy of the standard edition as a replacement but I had to keep contacting them for a while before they finally sent it. I just recently had a similar problem with my Blue Giant collectors edition disc, that took ages to get a replacement. It is terrible how they treat problems like this in comparison to companies like MVM.

I had a copy of a show that they put out missing the subtitles on one episode, I contacted them about it, they replied the same day and a couple of days later I had a replacement. AL really need to work on their customer service.
