UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

No one, it's in Netflix jail. The Japanese release has English subtitles, no dub though.
The sliver of hope is Netflix seem to have largely abandoned their commitment to Gundam. They're no longer the streaming partner for the in limbo live action movie and I believe have removed both the 0079 trilogy and CCA.

I think if not for COVID having hit a lot of the Gundam projects they had ties to things might be different.

They'll have the second Hathaway movie later this year, plus they have Seed Freedom.

I don't know what the hold up on ALs part is for the home release of Seed Freedom is though, you'd think we would've heard something by now as it was rated by them 3 months ago.

Could be any number of reasons, even something as simple as despite them having done everything on their end they're stuck waiting for some final sign off.

A few years back they hosted interviews with the director of Kakeguiri and we all had to get the interviews signed off before we could publish. The studio took over a month to do it (I remember specifically because they complained I didn't say S2 was streaming, despite it being weeks in the future when I submitted my transcript).

I know anything that needs approval from Japan is a massive pita.

I have a friend who works for a toy manufacturer and they got the license to a very well known anime. They ended up in so much red tape they gave the licence back when the Japanese side told them they couldn't sell the figures they manufactured after being given the green light for production to start 6 months prior.

Though a really nice set I'm a bit disappointed Eizouken is another over-sized set I'll be passing on but I'll definitely pick up the standard edition.

I'll also be picking up Bleach (Part 8) and Eureka Seven: Hi-Evolution 3 (CE).

The Eizouken set isn't Macross Plus sized or anything like that - it's a little taller (and of course wider) than your average Collector's Edition rigid case, but it's not massively taller overall.

Hopefully we might get some white samples or the like in the office soon so we can show it comparatively a bit more!

Eizouken is one of those releases where I'm impressed and tempted but simultaneously the degree of care put into it makes me look at other releases and wonder why they didn't get similar special attention.

Sure, different rights holders will be more open than others. But it is a bit lop-sided.

A rarity to see Anime Limited bring over Sentai's Premium Edition for their release. I'll think about it. Show is really good so its better than just a few art cards and a poster with a small booklet and leave it at that.

Other than that and EUREKA: Eureka Seven Hi-Evolution, the rest is eh. Bleach can go either AOL or AL in terms of ordering it for me.
