UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

Received the vinyl mystery box.

Elfen Lied.
My Hero Academia - Heroes Rising.
Cowboy Bebop -Netflix Ost.
Lo-Fi Ghibli.

I received Heroes Rising twice. You as well or am I lucky?

FYI bought the box twice, for a mate and myself, and got heroes rising 4 times even 😅

Also not VAT paid at all. The postal company did not ask for it 🎉

No dupes or additional copies in mine, got charged €21 in VAT and fees from Fedex. Don't be surprised if you get a paper bill from them in the near future, last year I got the VAT bill for my Christmas order from them in May.

Huh, the Venus Wars CE is a little different in terms of content from the Sentai release. ALs booklet is 20 pages shorter than Sentai’s booklet and AL has the CPM trailer while Sentai’s has a Japanese promo. Weird I thought it would of been a direct clone like ALs other Sentai releases.

Maybe I was lucky then. Also regarding the duplicate items.

Everytime so far with fedex I needed to pay the VAT upfront. So it would be weird for them not to do that this time.

I live in the Netherlands btw.

Looks like the Venus Wars standard and CE are up for order on the AL webstore already.

CE.

Standard
It's look like Sentai Limited Edition from the USA. I mean, like a copy 1 to 1.

Rent-A-Girlfriend (CE) Early Bird is up now, it's releasing on Monday so may possibly ship today.

Rent-a-Girlfriend seems to have a lot of controversy surrounding it. I am very curious to try it out for that very reason, haha.

May opt for the standard edition as opposed to the CE.

I'm biased as I enjoy it a lot but I find it a fun, trashy romance / harem (somewhat on the latter). It does have its heartfelt moments at times though. Is is also a very pretty show in the art and animation department.

Just don't take it to seriously but it definitely won't be for everyone.

I should watch Rent-a-Girlfriend and see if I would be interested in getting this - especially if it is more of a romance drama than a RomCom, which I generally don't care for. Anime comedy is extremely hit-or-miss with me. No idea what the controversies with it are, but usually the more controversial something is, the more I am interested in seeing it. I love stuff other people are so offended by, lol.

EDIT: Oh, trashy, huh? Excellent!

Maybe controversial is the wrong word - perhaps it is better described as divisive. People seem to either love it or hate it going by the reviews on MAL and other sites.

I did forget to mention the MC can be very annoying with the way he seems to fumble the majority of situations he's in but if you can accept that early on and it won't frustrate you much I think you'll be fine. I think that is partly the reason a lot of people don't enjoy it as he can make it repetitive at times and from what I've heard of the manga, the story is still quite repetitive.

A relatable main character, I'm in.

this is all from what I've read and watched online, could just be haters hating

I think a lot of Rent-a-Girlfriend hate comes from the manga pretty much doing nothing for 150+ chapters after [Spoiler Events from Season 2]. To the point its almost insulting to read just because how little development (if any) there is over whole books of content

Might be fun for some people but after watching S1 & 2. I'm not rushing to go read the manga thats for sure

Opened my sale stuff today shirobako arrived damaged case sounds broken inside too so didn’t even bother taking off the shrinkwrap :(
