Designed to be bad?
Well, this may shock you, but I'm fairly certain they knew they weren't creating the modern anime equivalent of The Wire or The Brothers Karamazov. :p

I was hoping Rio might turn out to be the anime equivalent of Tinker, Tailor Soldier, Spy but alas...

I'm enjoying Stein's Gate but there are a lot of episodes to catch up with.

Since I haven't posted here in ages I guess Ill just list what I am watching this season.

Tiger and Bunny - Its okay to be honest I was almost going to drop it since it didn't really seem to be going any where with just a random plot each episode. But after the introduction of some proper plot in episode 6, I think I may keep watching for 1 or 2 more episodes to see where it goes.

Steins gate - Love this one, all the characters are brilliant, its well written, and the story is interesting ( to the point where I went to Wikipedia and read all of the entry on John Titor)

Nichijou/my ordinary life - It many not be the most original of amines, Azumanga Diaoh lucky star etc, but its still amusing enough, although I do find the randomness of it all a bit off putting at times. The animation by Kyoto ani is simply amazing. Enough to keep me watching for at least a
few more episodes.

Ano Hana - Absolutely brilliant, may not be that much of a surprise considering its from the director of Toradora. The humour of the show is perfectly balanced by the more serious undertone. Hopefully this one will just get better as it goes on.

Hanasaku Iroha-I dont really like this one, where as Ano Hana is dramatic and has great character development, this just seems incredibly boring and slow, it just feels as if nothing is actually happening. Maybe I am just not used to its excruciatingly slow pace.

Deppo no onno - When I heard about this I thought it was going to be something like Arakawa under the bridge which I absolutely loved, however it just seems to be a regular harem with a strange cast. Having said that , however apart from the plot the direction is brilliant you can definitely its animated by shaft, especially with the bike incident in episode 3.

C- another great show this season, there seems to be a bucket load of them. The best thing about c is its actual idea, I find the whole variant on the stock market incredibly interesting and engaging with the using your future as payment idea being just one of a load of good ideas. The show is definitely well thought out and it will be interesting to see where it goes from here. The only negative point I could give is I absolutely hate the character designs, which I suppose is only slightly off putting.

Deadman wonderland - I am really not sure on this one, my feelings on it change from episode to episode. The one thing I can say about it is that the animation is good and apart from that I am not really sure on the story, the general idea is good however the way its going at the minute I feel its really going to be a mess of a plot by the end.

So far this seasons been reasonably good.

Wow that was along post, probably the longest post Ive ever made on any forum and maybe even the first time Ive posted over a paragraph.

I was pleased to read some of your opinions, as I absolutely agree with your view on several shows. AnoHana, Tiger & Bunny, Deadman Wonderland and [C] (although I don't mind the character designs) in particular.

i was watching dragon ballz movie super andriod 13 (hes southern talks funny) i while i was watching it i felt i couldn't enjoy it. i feel that the guys that made the dragon ballz games over did it. cause we all seen dragon ballz and played the games and going as far as to try and make sense of the power levels of the series and movies. but you know dragon ballz is a series that should be left a lone and not be watched for a while. i just feel the dragon ball series is over used. dragon ball series was for our need for kick ass action. but other series like naruto bleach have more deeper storys. well thats how i see it

im going though 5 new anime that has 6 discs each which makes 30 then im getting the dragon ball series and there 5 discs in each boxset and the 4 dragon ball movies which comes to 29 discs and the dragon ball z series and movies make 69 discs and the gt series is 10 disc makes 108 disc and then another 6 new animes 4 boxsets has 4 discs each and 2 boxset has 6 which will be 28 then il watch both old and new fma which will have 24 disc then when iv got boxset 6 of bleach while watching all these animes il be watching 27 discs of bleach including the movie and then 5 discs of gunslinger girls.
so il watch one disc a day which will be 222 days later and hope bleach boxset 6 will be out till then.
il be in december and hope iv got bleach boxset 6 before then.
( not including the new bleach 6 boxset)

Midori Days 1-2

Wound up watching a couple of episodes of this to break up a rather bleak block of Votoms.

Aside from the amusingly bizarre premise (lonely young man ends up with a minature girl grafted onto his wrist), it seems like pretty standard stuff. The fight scenes are nicely executed and the protagonist being basically a young GTO doesn't hurt it any, but the doe-eyed love interests were so stereotypical that the show just didn't engage me. It does have its moments and it strikes me as the sort of thing that might play well with the 12-15 age bracket, but the surprising inclusion of actual nudity would probably push the certificate out of that range, were it released over here.

Maria Holic alive 1-6 - definitely a step down from the first sires, any sort of plot seems to have been completely ignored and now it seems to be going down the route of generic parody anime. I mean come on, I think the parody of phoenix wright has been used far too many times to be funny any more.

That's what the source material did (it is a parody manga after all), and it's ignoring the filler eps in season 1
