Gosick (Japanese Dub) - Episodes 16-24

I tried not to burn myself and have 9 episodes in one go but hey it expires tomorrow so might as well get it out of the way in one go while I'm at it.

Overall I really enjoyed this series and I'm so pleased with the ending. (*patiently waits for Andrew to bring it out on Blu-ray*)

There were a few issues I had with the series:
- Kujo shouting VICTORIQUE! VICTORIQUE! VICTORIQUE! VICTORIQUE! VICTORIQUE! VICTORIQUE! VICTORIQUE! VICTORIQUE! VICTORIQUE! VICTORIQUE! VICTORIQUE! VICTORIQUE! VICTORIQUE! for numerous times.
- Filler episodes were average.
- Kujo is a dick to Avril, whenever Victorique is around.
- Kujo got dumber than smarter. What? He beat up some guy in the beginning? I don't recall that ever happening (*sarcasm*). However I do have some respect for him during the events of Episodes 23 & 24.
- Timeline inconsistency. Second World War starting in the 1920s? What?

Overall 8/10.

Tokyo Ghoul (Japanese Dub) - Episode 9
Sword Art Online II (Japanese Dub) - Episode 9
Aldnoah.Zero (Japanese Dub) - Episode 9

Regarding SAO, I'm gonna bet the gang watching GGO wasn't in the LNs and it's purpose is to foreshadow Asuna with Mother's Rosario. I haven't read them either but from what I heard the Phantom Bullet arc is over 50% done already so at best it should end around Episode 15 like Aincrad arc did.

As for Aldnoah.Zero, she can't seriously be dead, unconscious maybe.

Aldnoah Zero 9

Only a matter of time before something snapped there. Continuing to deliver each week.

Ghost not in the Shell, if you will.

Hmm. I think no matter what I say, we're going to be on opposite sides of the fence here, but I'm sticking to my guns on this one - SAC struck a chord with me that Oshii's version did not. Perhaps I might think differently if GitS was the first thing of Oshii's I'd seen, but having seen both his Patlabor films beforehand, I felt that he was playing much the same tune all along. I admire his work, but for all his ruminations on the nature of the self, I think he has a knack for draining the humanity out of anything he touches and, for me, SAC reversed that trend. Not just in Kusanagi herself, but right across section 9, we got rounded characters with human failings and that was what kept me watching. That was something I could relate to.

I think that's a tad harsh. I mean even between all the quotes from Jesus and Richard Dawkins (I'll never forgive you for that Oshii) and whoever else, at the height of his philosophy class mania in Innocence, I felt it was peppered with snippets of real relatable humanity. For example, to me, that scene with Batou and his dog probably felt more human, real, intimate and personal than anything in both gigs of SAC put together. But I think Oshii's films are just more personal and intimate than SAC in general. SAC is an easier watch in many ways (though I stand by my opinion, that the actual plot is actually far more convoluted and unintelligible), but I never felt the characters were particularly human or relatable. But yeah we're probably going round in circles now.

Akame ga Kill! (Japanese Dub) - Episode 09
Haikyuu!! (Japanese Dub) - Episode 22

Now that I have Gosick out of the way I should start finishing off Shana II and Toradora! at some point. I'll watch Rail Wars (Episodes 06-08) and Shana I Specials (Naze Nani Shana I and Shana-tan) tonight or tomorrow. The new arrivals should appear in a few days if planned.

JJBA: Stardust Crusaders ep22

Hell 2 U indeed.

Given that Avdol's non-death was heavily signposted, it's hardly a surprise to see him again, but it is nice to see him back, even if he seems to have completely lost his marbles during the interim.

Seriously, pissing down someone's breathing tube is not cool :(
