In fact, towards the end, I wondered why I wasn't just watching Akira instead. Sure it might not carry much by way of a moral dilemma but it's definitely more entertaining.

It's funny you should say that, as I'm fairly sure Manga UK once made a misguided attempt to push Roujin-Z as 'the next Akira', due to the link with Otomo. Presumably their marketing people had not actually seen the film...

But you can't blame them as it was the Akira link that got me to buy the VHS back in the day, as it certainly wasn't the write up on the back that persuaded my pre-teen self. And I did end up thinking, and still think, that Roujin-Z is a straight gem classic, and probably one of the best anime productions ever made. No hyperbole at all.

Senran Kagura Eps 1-12

Get the distinct impression they had a lot of fun making this, not sure if the narrator attitude is a US addition or not, will have to double check the subs. Between the 3DS games and this that's 3 variations on largely the same story.

Yeah, admittedly I can imagine it being a tough sell on the basic synopsis alone. I really should pick up the DVD of that one, I've not seen it for years.

Tokyo Ghoul ep 3-6

Okay, I feel like I've got more of a handle on this one now. It strikes me as a fairly conventional horror/action series, short-changed by underwhelming art-direction, but bolstered by solid characterisation and enlivened by intermittent flashes of genuine inspiration.

Seriously, having the outrageously camp antagonist getting his kicks by snorting blood out of a handkerchief was some David Lynch level stuff right there.

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal 4 (decent)
Sengoku Basara Judge End 7 (amazing)
Aldnoah Zero 7 (also amazing)

I need the Aldnoah Zero OST nowwwwww...

Shame that Tokyo Ghoul, once again, failed to show up on Wakanim last week. Their French service got it within a reasonable time of everyone else, it's just the English service which is rubbish.

I'm trying to decide which service is the worst this season: Wakanim for its constant vague delays, Animax for being Animax, or all of the services involved with broadcasting Black Butler on time in the UK. Viewster is always late too but I'll give it one season of grace for being new.

And they didn't even mention it was going to be delayed. Sigh, why can't they have a schedule and stick to it. Out of the three titles, Space Dandy (subtitled) seems to be the only one on track so far every week with Terror in Resonance only having a slight delay but still on time.

Yeah, this is why I hate how the weaker services don't publish a schedule; it's like they can't even pretend they are able to deliver anything on time. Tokyo Ghoul annoys me most because it's harder to avoid the spoilers (I don't mind if Space Dandy or Bakumatsu Rock are spoiled quite so much, and I've already read the Black Butler manga). It feels as though Wakanim can't go a single week without delaying something this season.

Tokyo Ghoul: Episode 7

Yes, finally up on Wakanim!

Nooo they took it down again while I was playing PS3!

I hope it will return tomorrow morning.

A couple of people said the subtitles were mistimed, but it was fine through my play-through, so not exactly sure what went on there.

I guess it's better to be pre-cautious about it since they could get more complaints. I'm perfectly fine with it as long as they can get it back online later today.

There were a couple of problems with the subs being mistimed, one at the start of the episode and one in the middle. The part in the middle was a 15-20 second spell where it was tough to follow what was going on. It didn't ruin the episode, but definitely needed fixing.
