Actually, a lot of the speculation I've seen has switched to 'Mako dies at the half-way mark'. Either way, it seems unlikely that Satsuki is the end boss.

Well logically she should have been dead already with the amount of damage done to her, but I guess they plan on doing it like Gurren Lagann did before that show's halfway point.
Now that would be one hell of a plot twist and tone changer.

Would they really pull the same twist twice as that would be pretty predictable.

I read elsewhere the creator of the show has said viewers are in for a pleasant surprise for the second half of the season!

Maison Ikkoku ep1-26

Having hit what is ostensibly the end of the first 'season' (despite it continuing into season 2 the following week), I thought it might be a good time to take stock.

Rumiko Takahashi's comic drama about a widowed boarding-house manager and a struggling student is by far and away the most down to earth of her works that I've experienced, but I think its outright rejection of fantasy elements actually makes it refreshing and easier to relate to. Its age does show through in its social mores, but while the behaviour of both main leads often seems either quaint or dubious by today's standards, I think it does catch something of a society going through major changes in the way men and women relate to each other. Godai and Kyoko both start off apparently trying to emulate their parents' generation, but Godai quickly learns that dragging Kyoko back to his cave will not win her heart, and Kyoko steadfastly refuses to give in to her parents demands that she give up her job and come home to be quietly married off to someone else.

I don't feel it's the funniest of Takahashi's comedies, and I doubt the story will throw up anything hugely unexpected, but thus far, it's been as warm and comforting as a long bath.

Haganai: I Don't Have Many Friends (English Dub via Funimation BD) - Episodes 10, 11 and 12 plus 13 (OVA Add-on)

Episode 10 was fun, Rika is amazing (especially with the toilet scene) and LEAVE SENA ALONE. Ku ku ku..

OMG OREIMO GROUP in Episode 11. Was expecting the teacher or the class to interrupt that moment in the end. Ku ku ku..

Episode 12 had a nice ending, Yozora explained things so it was all good. Ku ku ku.. RIKA'S WEARING ASUKA'S EVA SUIT FROM EVA 2.22 HOLY ****. Ku ku ku..

The OVA Episode was pretty epic (WTF was that Gundam/Evangelion sex? Rika you dirty girl), it was as good as the Monster Hunter episode. Ku ku ku..

Overall, I absolutely enjoyed Haganai (Season 1) and I can't wait for Haganai NEXT to get released [due to region lock reasons] for home release. Ku ku ku..

(Note: Ku ku ku is Kobato's catchphrase).

Yowapeda 8

I've fallen behind on pretty much everything this season, but not this series. Onoda is just so likeable and easy to root for, watching him develop and grow in stature has been a joy. The only complaint is that I want to watch the next episode immediately afterwards!

Space Brothers - Episode 83

The continuing appeal of Space Brothers is that I can relate to the characters so well.

Guyver: The Bioboosted Armor - Episodes 25 & 26 [Final]

I'm a big fan of the Guyver franchise and I really enjoyed this version, now to rewatch the other series that got me into the Guyver in the first place and the original OVA for comparison.

Coppelion - Episode 8

FullMetal Alchemist OVAs ep 1-4 rewatch *complete*, also 4-Koma theatre ep 1-18 rewatch *complete*.
Kids on the Slope ep 1-8.
Non Non Biyori ep 8.
Unbreakable Machine-Doll ep8.

Shigurui: Death Frenzy (English Dub via Manga UK BD) - Episodes 5, 6, 7 and 8

This series is brutal; nipple sliced (and then eating it), faces beaten beyond the punch, eyes sliced to make a person blind and tons of sexual violence it's insane. But what makes this series excellent is the atmosphere, the music and the tone of the series. This isn't your simple Samurai Champloo, but it feels like I'm watching a violent commentary.

Little Busters! - Episode 1 (Sub)

I watched the first 10 or so episodes when this was airing so for the most part this is just a rewatch.
I feel that I have to say it though, the dub is absolutely terrible. Sentai's dubs are pretty meh to begin with, but this is without a doubt the worst dub I've heard for ages across all the distributors. I'm surprised that the subs aren't locked though, considering how short of a gap there is between the final JP BD release and the first US Collection.

Another ep 1-2. Excellent start, very atmospheric. Hopefully it can maintain this.
Kids on the Slope ep 9-12. *complete* Shinichiro Watanabe is a legend.
Outbreak Company ep 9.

Kill La Kill Episode 9 - Another great episode, i love what they're doing with the soundtrack too. It certainly grows on you as the series goes on. While i can see why people ask why this is 2-cour, i think i have some ideas as to how it may turn out. There is still a lot of questions to be answered.

Samurai Flamenco Episode 8 - So they went for going with it. Ok, i was iffy on it, but it's certainly not as bad as i expected it. Maybe it's down to the fact that, while adding a more "serious" tone, there is a lot of humour thrown in it. Not only that, but the targets of the bad guys are all feel very much what i'd connect to a childs idea of evil. Outwith the guillotine gorilla, we had one stealing all the apples and one about to poison the city to make them never stop gossiping. It doesn't feel "threatening". There is still something "off" about it all i feel, i just can't put my finger on what.

Pure speculation but ..

I have this feeling that the director has something to do with it, he seems hell bent on finding out SF's identity and he's mentioned more than once that he has a ton of money to throw around so creating a league of villains to expose SF wouldn't be something I'd put past him. Everything that happened could be put down to actors, CGI, special effects etc etc ..sorta. Its a theory anyhows.

Otherwise, I quite like the idea of it being real, the thought that SF's "master" isn't off helping charity's, etc but fighting monsters is sorta cool to me, same with his parents possibly being superheroes who were murdered by the villains.
