I'm also not massively keen on the way they draw Akane. Maybe it's her eyes, but I keep thinking she has a ridiculous derp face.

Yeahhh, Hagu. I think I get the intention behind her child-like design, that it's a sort of visual metaphor for how sheltered and immature she is, but I find it a bit creepy that these grown men are attracted to someone who looks and acts like that.

I did laugh at them taking pictures of her sitting on a mushroom or holding up a giant leaf, but yeah... Still, were it in any other series, I might consider it grounds for giving up, but everything else seems well enough done that I'm willing to overlook it for now.

I hope you intend to keep watching, I mean, the manga is pretty good, so as long as they stick to it, faithfully then things should begin to pick up pretty soon.

Yeah, I'll stick with it for the time being at least.

To be honest, I haven't watched the entirety of the first episode myself yet but from what I saw it didn't do a bad job of following the manga. Tomoko does look a little cuter than she did in the manga but her VA does a fair job of capturing her likeness I think.

Yeah, they try to make, not only her, but the situations come across a little cuter, but I think they do a good job of switching her back to extremely awkward and weird. For me personally, the manga started out very depressing and was quite morose humour (when I could manage to laugh at not being depressed by it), but I think even the manga itself has gotten a little "lighter" and funnier, and perhaps the anime is aiming to be a little more like how the manga is now. But it could just be that it takes time to breakthrough that initial dark barrier and it was actually this "cute" all along.

WataMote Ep.1
Blood Lad Ep.1
Dog & Scissiors Ep.2
The World God Only Knows S1 Ep.4-5

Nekomonogatari Kuro episode 2 - Just makes me more impatient for MVM's Bakemonogatari BD release!

Started to watch my Haruhi BDs at last, going through them in chronological order rather than broadcast order. Even though the first season is an upscale, it still looks glorious to me!

Angel Beats - Episode 10 to 13 + OVA: Stairway to Heaven
Baka & Test: Summon the Beasts (Season 1) - Episode 12 to 13 + Special: Christmas Footage
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion (Season 1) - Episode 5 to 9

Finished Fractale and Aria the Scarlet Ammo.

Fractale was slow to start but I really got into it in the latter half. I'm glad I saw it through to the end because that was what made it worth the watch. I just think it took a bit long to reveal some information that could have made you feel more connected with the characters.

Silver Spoon Ep.1
Rozen Maiden (2013) Ep.2

Much better than the first episode and I think the whole alternate universe plotline might actually play out better than the original did.
