Wolf's Rain 1-5

Bit behind the times on this one.
It feels somehow like you chose the absolute strangest "age" of anime to go back to. I kind of expect people to be watching currently airing stuff, currently being released on DVD stuff, or... really old stuff. 5-15 years ago seems "the weirdest", somehow, but it's definitely something I need to go back to more as I was only really getting into anime around the time of Wolf's Rain.

I know exactly what you mean. It feels as though every "modern" anime fan will have already seen Wolf's Rain and other popular shows from that time. I'm sure that's not actually the case, but it does seem that way.

Just finished Eva.

I loved it. Even with Episode #23 ;_;

I also liked the ending. It was lacking, but it gave us a disection of the characters themselves. Which was great.

Should I jump into EoE, or should I watch either the directors cuts or DnR first?

Take the X-Train (1987)

A Rintaro directed oddity from the height of the OAV boom, this one tells of the bizarre link between an office gopher with latent psychic powers and a ghostly commuter train.

It cribs a certain amount of pop-art style from the previous year's California Crisis and bears a definite thematic similarity to Otomo's work (particularly Akira and Stinkbomb), but the tone is far more tongue-in-cheek, with amusing scenes of anti-hero Toru being chased by some very retro g-men and later the train itself, as he attempts to outrun it in a stolen mini-van.

While it boasts a more coherent conclusion than California Crisis, the art style is aggressively unattractive and the story isn't as entertaining as the setup suggests it could have been.

It's a diverting way to spend an hour, but I think I'd only really recommend it for serious Otomo fans and collectors of the curious.

Wait, what?! Of all the people on the forum, I thought you would have seen the show at least two or three times by now.

As for "the rest", I would watch the DC eps 21-24 and then End of Evangelion, just to have the "complete" experience (or as close as you can easily get).

Haha. Yeah, even though I didn't see the show, I liked the characters. Only managed to hunt down the DVDs recently.

Infact, thinking back, I like the characters more than the show itself. I dunno, cos of all the psychological elements or something.

Anyway, what do the directors cuts do differently than the original airings?

Well, it's hard to describe, but let's just say that the ending in the directors cut is not as happy.

Nah, I meant 21'-24'. I know that EoE consists of 25' and 26', which is drastically different.

But, I might watch something else before watching 21'-26', since it seems that the first 4 only have a few scenes added.

Tiger & Bunny 23

They resolved that more abruptly than I was expecting, and in a cheesy way. It's nice to see the boys back together though.

I hope the other heroes get to do more than just be noble and patient in the next episode.

I also watched most of episode 1 of R-15 (stopping when T&B went up in a frenzy) and it seemed ok, but sort of pointless. I'll try some more later.

I am so glad that what I predicted would happen didn't. Sure, I knew that Bunny's memories would return in this episode but I thought it would have been due to the pin, guess that was a deliberate red herring..

I will say though, seeing Dragon Kid in that room of spikes...****, that hit me in my core; moreso than any of the other heroes. I still predicted the robot though.

Y'know what sucks about R-15? The bright light censors. If you're gonna make a show with that kinda stuff in it, at least show it 9.9

(re-watch)Voltes V episodes 1-15.This and Combattler V are total classics and Tosho Daimos is finally now getting subbed which is great news as it means finally in the future i,ll have all three series complete in my collection and then The Robot Romance Trilogy will finally be complete. :D

R-15 9

How many scenes of Narakawa looking forlorn do we need?! This episode could easily be skipped though xD. At least the Chief was awesome at the end with that closing line =3
