Re: Durarara

I really liked the second half, even if it felt like I was watching a completely different show in some ways every few episodes since the plot kept changing direction.

Durarara!!
Think the second half functions well on a character basis but it completely overcomplicates every aspect of its plot. I still find it enjoyable, and certainly more so than the very early episodes of the first half. I wonder if it would have been more beneficial to have done the first half as a season of its own then sorted out the second half in a different run/season later down the line.

Finally ventured back to anime again after a long enough drought, and started with the first four episodes of Tiger & Bunny. I kept hearing a lot about the show and had honestly no idea what to expect, so the premise did catch me off guard, but it's an interesting take on the hero idea. The CG isn't to bad either, though it took me an episode or two to get used to it.

Sunrise have this nack forgetting a lot of advertisements in too, i didn't expect the likes of Ustream to be on there, but was left kinda wanting Pizza Hut to suddenly appear somewhere down the line. Blame Code Geass for that one.

Probably gonna get stuck into the next 2-3 episodes before i say anything proper on it though.

Forgot to put hsi in my earlier post:

Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu Ni! episode 1

Been waiting ages for this and like the first series, it had me lol throughout the entire episode.

So little that I actually feel bad. ;_;

I almost wish I'd done that, but that would have meant missing out on three months of awesome... why did you do that to yourself?

Durarara 14-17

If anyone wants to explain this Saika business to me, for I am thoroughly confused by the whole affair, then be my guest.
I don't massively remember every detail off the top of my head, but I also don't remember it being impossible to follow. What specifically did you not get?

Star Driver - Episodes 16 - 18

I have to say much to my surprise Star Driver is getting better, I have high hopes for the conclusion now!
Ah, finally! It's taken a few more eps to get to you than it did with me, but it doesn't surprise me to read this. Now I wonder what... aha...

Star Driver - Episodes 24 & 25 (Final)

Star Driver ended on a high with a great final episode, its just a shame that the first half of the series was terrible and that much of the mecha action continued to be repetitive, so overall still only an average series in my eyes.
Yes, this was a great missed opportunity. At its best, it was the show I was looking forward to most each week. At its worst, I nearly dropped it. I would love to have seen the show made with fewer concessions to the general audience that were necessitated by its timeslot.

Birdy the Mighty: Decode eps. 1-7

Two things were responsible for my interest in this series: Masami Yuuki (Patlabor) wrote the manga and I saw some video clips of the show's fight scenes.

The kindest thing I can say about the first seven episodes of Birdy is that they washed over me without leaving any impression whatsoever. There's nothing remarkable about the show except some unusually fluid animation during action sequences, and even that's offset by the clunky movement at other times and its general flat, washed out look. Also, the hand-painted quality of the backgrounds just doesn't work for me at all. Comparing screenshots of the OVA just made me want to watch that instead.

One bright spot is Birdy herself, for she is hotness (if I ignore the curiously thick 'brows). Everyone else, including the antagonists, are just non-entities. It's going to have to do an awful lot in the next six episodes for me not to cross part 2 off my pre-order list.

AnoHana eps 1-5
Steins;Gate eps 1-8
Idolm@ster ep 1

I had heard good stuff about AnoHana before jumping in and i'm certainly enjoying it. It's got quite a nice bit of drama but i'm finding myself wanting Menma to just pick something up and throw it at someone...

Steins;Gate is quite fun. I actually seriously considered dropping it at episode 4 but I'm glad I continued. I'm not quite sure where it's going but it seems to fluctuate from serious to comedy quite a bit. I do quite like the oddballness of Okarin bouncing off of Kurisu. Infact most of the supporting cast is quite likable and fun. Tuturu!
