A Few Moments of Cheers
At about an hour in length, I feel this lighthearted drama about a young video maker enamoured with a mysterious musician sits awkwardly between either needing to be shorter and more focused, or wanting a third act to give it more substance, but visually, it’s one of the best looking CG anime I’ve seen to date, and certainly confirms Popurika as a director to watch out for in future.
Dan Da Dan ep4-5
The Irresponsible Captain Tylor ep1-2
Given the conspicuous use of portrait closeups and sound effects to suggest things happening offscreen, I think you’d definitely know the economic bubble had recently burst when this started airing, but it’s been rather charming so far. I like how it feels ambiguous about whether Tylor is a fast-talking genius or just an uncannily lucky goober, it reminds me of the early part of Trigun.
