Love, Death and Robots Volume 3
Three Robots: Exit Strategies
Sequel to an episode in the first batch.
Our three tour guides through the post apocalypse show us how the different classes reacted and how it went for them. Spoilers badly! Quite funny commentary on how bad human attitudes can/are screwing ourselves over.
Bad Travelling
From the depths.
Traders on the high seas of a distant planet encounter a vicious sea creature. A twisty plot and some gruesome and creepy scenes it was a good tense story.
The realist CG adds to the gruesomeness although the character designs are slightly disproportionate humans.
The Very Pulse of the Machine
Enjoy this trip,
And it is a trip.
Visually impressive episode about an astronaut on Jupiter's moon Io trying to get back to her spacecraft after an accident. Although CG like the first 2 the art is more cartoon like or should that be anime like as it was animated by Polygon. Also loved the music which was a fantastic spacey ambient.
Night of the Mini Dead
Short and seriously f**ked up.
Zombies apocalypse, but everything was animated as if the world was a miniature set. Looked stop motion, but I doubt it as there were a lot of moving pieces. Very funny in places.
Kill Team Kill
Guns, lots of guns!
Pretty shallow plot about soldiers coming up against a tough opponent. Pretty humorous in places and the first episode with a more traditional 2D animation which was quite good.
Swarm
Hive mind.
Scientists discover a nest of interstellar insects, but as usual we want more than to just study them!
Back to the realistic CG for this one.
Mason's Rats
Arms race.
A man has a rat problem and needs increasing more sophisticated equipment to get rid. Quite funny in places.
More of Pixar look to this one.
In Vaulted Halls Entombed
Call of Duty: Lovecraft
Soldiers get more than they bargained for in the caves of Afghanistan.
Almost photo realistic which makes the gore stuff extra gruesome.
Jibaro
Beware the Siren's call.
This is like the episode The Witness from the first season in that the backgrounds look real and the movement of the characters look too complex for animation, but they definitely have a different look to them that suggests some sort of process has taken place, also it was bizarre, probably even more so than that first episode.
Another batch of interesting and varied stories. Favourites are definitely Bad Travelling and The Very Pulse of the Machine.
