In the Clear Moonlit Dusk Episodes 10-12 (sub) (complete). Finally got a chance to finish this. I loved this anime; Yoi is seriously beautiful even with her tomboy-ish looks. The only drawback was that she was way too hesitant throughout the entire series - I just wish the romance would have advanced a bit quicker and further. Hoping for a second season with this one, since it did appear to be a decently popular series, ranking anywhere from 16th to 31st out of about 65 anime for the Winter season.

Call of the Night S2 ep9-12

Hmm. In the end, I think they were a little quick to establish that Mejiro isn’t actually a direct threat to any of the vampires. The idea of her committing revenge-suicide was certainly an unexpected twist, but I don’t feel like the show quite sold me on either the seriousness of that or the idea that she was actually a tragic figure all along. For the most part, I thought they did a good job of building her up from a leering villain into a more complicated character, so it was just a shame they couldn’t quite stick the landing there.

But yes, on the whole, I quite enjoyed this season; I thought it did better at navigating between comedy and drama than s1. Maybe it’s recency bias, but I might even go as far as to say I prefer Call of the Night to Monogatari, which it very much resembles,

I gather the manga continues on beyond where this season ended, but even if we never get more of the anime, I think that was a good place to end it.

Well that went down easy - didn’t think I’d finish rewatching the first season so quickly, but my enthusiasm for the show remains un diminished. I think what really makes Dorohedoro is the sheer charm of its characters; in another series, just about any of the main cast here could have been the protagonist. The OVA is a fun addition too. It may not advance the plot any, but damn it, we needed the story of the Invisible Gyoza Fairy.

Ruri Rocks ep1-2

Looking back on it, I don’t think I actually watched that many new series last year. I do remember this one being fairly well received, but fear I may have dismissed it as a meme, given the popularity of the uh, particularly buxom geology student who acts as a guide to the main character as she goes looking for precious minerals in the countryside. Some of the music choices feel a bit unnecessarily dramatic (half expected Frieren’s party to rock up), but this seems quite a pleasing little series really. Maybe not something to watch a lot of in one sitting, but a sweet and very well animated palate cleanser.

Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt (dub) eps 1-3
With the new season out thought it was about time I got this off the watch pile. Got to say it's a bit too anarchic and feels very "Western" like say Ren and Stimpy. There might have been a time when I would have really dug it, but now it's a bit too much!

Ruri Rocks eps 1-3
Not the typical CGDCT that I thought it would be, for a start out of the 3 characters we've met so far only one is a high schooler and secondly none are particularly "cute". Ruri is overly enthusiastic about everything, and the other 2 being older are a bit too mature for that. Their designs are a bit off putting too, Ruri looks so much like Kirino from OreImo it's uncanny, Youko is a bit too "bookish" and Nagi's breasts are inhumanly large. Nagi is the best character though, with her knowledge and the learning geology stuff is quite interesting.
 

Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid-I love this show, where but in anime could you find a premise like this? I love to see Tohru and Kobayashi bouncing off each other. The whole show is a gigantic vortex of humor and slapstick with some serious tones.​
