Mobile Suit Gundam - Episodes 12 - 20

It was interesting to watch the infamous Cucuruz Doan's Island episode within the overall flow of the story. I had seen it before and it is full of awful, off-model animation (especially the mobile suits) and watching again now I can see what it was trying to do, showing the disruptive effect the OYW had on everybody, but nonetheless it does feel like an oddity and a bit of a random deviation from the main plot. I can see lots of reasons why it was excluded from the Western release but I would love to know the real story behind it.

Within this run of episodes I had also forgotten some of the content that was cut from the movie version and how it actually fleshed out some of the scenes within the story. While I have always been a massive fan of the original series, it's actually better than I remembered.

City Hunter: Shinjuku Private Eyes

TBH a pretty standard City Hunter story but that's a good thing and I had a really good time watching it.

Goku Midnight Eye - Episodes 1 & 2 [Final]

I haven't watched this since I last saw it on VHS over 25 years ago. I used to love Goku Midnight Eye back in the 90's but watching it again all these years later, it's OK, certainly a product of its time but delivered on what it was supposed to do and that's to be an entertaining action OVA and I hadn't appreciated before how nice animation was and it looked great on Blu-ray.

Fafner in the Azure - Right or Left (Special), Fafner in the Azure: Dead Aggressor episodes 1-17

Fafner is a massively overlooked mecha franchise imho, it's so good but no-one ever talks about it.

Pokemon Master Journeys (English) - Episode 26 - 30

Resident Evil: Death Island (English) - Movie (Complete)

With the release of RE Requiem it was the perfect time to watch the last of the CGI movies I hadn't seen. This was a really fun time, very fan-servicey and super cheesy but that's what made it great. It had a generic plot but the novelty of having five of the series fan-favourite characters together was a dream come true.

Wolf Children (English) - Movie (Complete) (re-watch)

It must have been a decade since I last saw this movie and back then, I found this to be a masterpiece and after this re-watch, I still stand by that and loved it even more. I feel now I'm older I appreciate what this movie does even more. I do want to re-watch Mirai as well now due to similar themes, I feel I will enjoy that movie even more also.

I'm looking forward to AL's 4K releases of The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and Summer Wars as it's been around a decade since I've seen those movies as well. The Girl Who Leapt Through Time used to be my number one favourite anime movie prior to When Marnie Was There so I'm especially looking forward to that one.

It's a shame that the upcoming Scarlet doesn't look great because Mamoru Hosoda can do great things, I'll still check out Scarlet though.

Ah, another big Marnie fan! Nausicaa was my most favorite Studio Ghibli movie until When Marnie Was There came out, and now Marnie is my top favorite Ghibli movie. The Girl Who Leapt Through Time was the first anime my two daughters showed me when I was 50 years old, which kick-started the beginnings of my huge anime hobby. But for me, Your Name is still my most favorite movie of all-time - and that includes both anime and live action films!

I need to re-watch Nausicaa myself, has been a very long time, think it was on TV when I last saw it. I found it to be one of my lesser favourite Ghibli movies but it's another movie I feel I will enjoy much more nowadays. Your Name is definitely up there for one of my favourite anime movies as well though my favourite Makoto Shinkai movie is The Garden of Words.

Fire Force Season 3 Part 2 episode 68 Vitality.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 episode 34 Attacked.

Fortune Favors Lady Nikuko (Film) Though this certainly had its charm and heart I wasn’t overly attached to its sense of humour. 3/5

Fragtime (Film)
At only an hour long this romance with sci-fi elements just didn’t do a lot for me - expanded as a longer film or TV series it could perhaps be more effective, as is though not a great watch. 2.5/5

Frames Arms Girl
episodes 1-7

All You Need is Kill (at the cinema)
An adaptation of the original story with quite a few twists. The central premise of characters living the same day during an alien invasion is present and correct, but the MC is now Rita rather than Keiji which is an interesting way to change it up however they are no longer soldiers which is a bit odd when they learn, without any mentors, to fight back against the aliens and become total badasses at it! It did feel a little too short with various aspects of the story feeling rushed at times.
The ending is a mix of the original and the live action film. To stop the loop one of them has to kill the other due to their connection to the alien hive mind like the book, but like the film they go back to the start of the loop, but aliens are dead and Rita, who won the fight, remembers everything, whilst Keiji has gone back to the way he was when they first met.
Art wise it took a while to get used to the style and animation wise some of the action was a little motion sickness inducing with the camera panning about too quickly!
7/10

All You Need Is Kill
Nothing too great but it's a fun time. Always been partial to a good time loop. Good to see Studio 4°C still going outside the norm when it comes to character designs and animation.

Medalist episode 7

Fate/Strange Fake episode 9

Fate/Strange Fake episode 9 Masterpiece.

Medalist 2nd Season episode 19 “Ifs” and Jumps.

To Your Eternity Season 3 episode 58 Stuck at school.

Trigun Stargaze episode 20 Overwhelmed.

Frames Arms Girl episodes 8-12 (Complete. A mecha offering that was inoffensive enough.) 3/5

Frankenstein Family
ONAs 1-12 (Complete. A sci-fi anime with SoL elements that sported extended segments at the end of each episode featuring VAs or production members. As is, I can’t say this was an especially engaging watch and didn’t really live up to a potentially interesting premise.) 2.5/5
