Durarara!!-Episodes 8-10

Why isn't Shizuo in this more? I mean, I really like most of the characters thus far (Mikato seems a little, I dunno, boring?) but I really like Shizuo. He just seems really cool! I think Masaomi is also getting a bit shafted on screen time.

Code Geass R1 episodes 14-25 rewatch complete

Just finished rewatching Season 1. It is an experience no matter how many times I rewatch this. I'm really excited to see how the compliation movies next year will do it.

^ Same. I love Code Geass and as much as I agree with some that there shouldn't be a direct sequel as the ending of R2 was amazing, I am so glad we are getting more.

Yuri!!! on Ice (Japanese audio) - Episodes 5-6

I can see why Lemon felt 5 onwards were not so great. I did notice Yuri performed the same dance move again multiple times (though the other performance in each episode was better) so I hope this doesn't happen again otherwise it'll be repetitive. Victor on the other hand, funny as usual but I've noticed he's a bit more 'touchy' than per usual. Probably one of those friendly interactions but if you look at it from one perspective I can see why it could alarm some folks.

It really depends on what you're watching for. Ice skating has the competitors use the same routines over and over in a season; that's just how it is, like how football is about kicking a ball past opponents or dressage is about flawlessly completing a preassigned routine. But even though I can enjoy it well enough for the animation and intensity, I recently read this post (spoilers for Yuuri!!! On Ice up to episode 7!) which adds another perspective to the skating sequences in the second parts of the competitions. The music itself is part of the performance in a way I hadn't ever appreciated at all, as the last comment from the bottom poster in notes in parentheses.

After the latest episode I was also a little anxious that everything might crash and burn in drama later on (Russian homosexuals aren't exactly known for experiencing much acceptance in the modern world) so I was very happy to see this tweet by one of the series' creators saying "No matter what those in the real world think about this series, within the world of YOI there won't be discrimination against any kind of love. I will be sure to protect that kind of world." (please forgive my crummy translation). I love both sides to this show.

I see, I wasn't fully aware of how Ice Skating works so I didn't know they generally repeat the same routines.

Just because that's how it works doesn't mean you should be any less critical on the repetition. Surely if the sport is repetitive to watch, it might not have been a good candidate to pick for an anime. I'm sure they could have used the same characters and basic plot and picked a far more interesting, less monotonous sport to centre it around.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans - Episode 35

That was a good episode of IBO, lately while the character development has been very good it has felt like it was kinda dragging and the series got the shot in the arm it needed in this episode.

Yuri!!! On Ice - Episode 10

It's good but I've gone a bit lukewarm on this lately.

KissDum Enage Planet - Episodes 17 - 19

I've enjoyed KissDum more over these last few episodes.

Durarara!!-Episodes 11-13 (+12.5)

Something small that I quite like regarding Celty is how the show really humanises her. With her being this mythical creature and all, I think it would have been quite easy to make her just a boring bad ass, but her relationship with Shinra and just her general quirks make her feel just like a normal person, despite her lacking a head. The bit that really stood out to me in this regard is when she's being chased by the police and gets home and just falls into Shinra's arms, and is genuinely scared. That's what I love about Celty; despite her not being human, she still very much is.

Also, it may sound horrible, and they didn't exactly deserve it, but seeing those girls who bully Anri get murdered was pretty satisfying.

Scorching Ping Pong Girls-Episode 11

Hmm, according to MAL, this show is only 12 episodes long, so they definitely need to be announcing a season 2 at the end of the next episode. Hell, they even set up a new character and rivalry in this episode, no way is this not getting a second season.

Durarara-Episodes 14-18

Okay, so I loved the first arc, but I must say, this second arc has just left me feeling a bit lost and confused. It's still enjoyable, mind you, but I feel like I don't have a proper grip on how the whole demon sword business works.

For example, I'm not entirely sure who was doing the killing, the sword or the girl. I mean, Anri was targeted by the girl with the sword for stealing that creepy teachers love or whatever, but I'm certain there were definitely murders that had nothing to do with that, so why would the girl kill those? On the flip side, if the sword was in control and just killed indiscriminately, why was Anri being targeted? It's all just a bit weird and confusing. That whole army thing was also weird because I'm pretty sure all those people were dead, so how did they come back? They weren't just possessed puppets either because after Anri controls the other possessed girl and makes all of the army stand down, they all go back to being themselves, alive and well. I also have to question how swords have children, and also how Anri's mum got in possession of the sword in the first place.

I can't answer you question about why Anri was being targeted because that's spoilers for the later seasons of Durarara from what I remember, but I can answer other questions!.

I'm pretty sure from what I remember that the people weren't dead and actually were just puppets because of the fact they go back to being perfectly fine afterwards. I think the whole sword having children thing is when they stab someone that they can sort of 'bond' with and are strong-willed (or potentially those from a certain bloodline but I might be making this bit up), so they basically just end up being a piece of the bigger picture as it were.

How Anri's mum got the sword is also a question for later seasons to answer...

I see. Well, hopefully by the time I'm done with S2, I'll have all my questions answered. Thanks for the explanation!
