My Teen Romantic Comedy Snafu-Episodes 1 and 2 (Rewatch)

Only two episodes in an I'm already reminded why I dislike this series so much. Hachiman and Yukino are just not likable or relatable characters at all, and can seemingly only communicate in pretentious, over complicated dialogue 70% of the time. The comedy isn't funny either and Brain's Base is so much more capable in the animation department than the thoroughly average effort they put in here. If I didn't know better and you said the team behind Baccano did this, I'd say you were flat out wrong.

The hype for this show is probably one of the most baffling to me. There are shows I either think are bad or even just not as good as people say they are, like Ghost in the Shell or Samurai Champloo that I can at least look at and go "Yeah, I can see why this is popular, but it's not my cup of tea" but this? I dunno, I just don't see the appeal. The animation isn't outstanding, it's club based premise is nothing original and the characters are pretentious. The music is pretty good, but that's about it.

Out of interest, why are you rewatching the show if you don't like it?

Mobile Suit Gundam - Iron-blooded Orphans - Episode 27 - More of what you'd expect from this show, I guess whether that's good or bad depends on what you think of IBO as I understand a lot of people dislike it but I enjoy it.

Izetta The Last Witch - Episode 3 - I think this was a better episode but only because of Izetta flipping tanks and taking down planes with magical swords and lances was amusing (could have done without the crotch and ass shots right enough).....still think it's a pretty average show and unsure if I'll continue with it but I kinda wanna in case something interesting actually happens as the premise seems good. Perhaps if the characters weren't so bland I'd be more willing to, but I guess it is only 3 episodes in so we'll see how I feel when episode 4 comes out.

Drifters - Episode 2 - I like this, not sure why but I enjoy it, OP is great too.

The NGNL movie is a prequel based on one of LNs which is also a prequel/flashback based novel
At least it's new content then, there's nothing more disappointing than a recap movie.

Classicaloid ep 2. Okay, I think I see how each episode will go down. Could get repetitive though.

Long Riders ep 2. So borrrrred.

Occultic;Nine ep 2. It seems like this is broadly about some otaku being dragged into supernatural events in a world that won't accept anything 'unscientific'. Or something, it's tough to tell when the storytelling bounces all over the place like this.

Super Beast Machine God Dancouga - Episodes 35 - 38 [Final] (Blu-ray)

A good series that deserves its reputation but the ending was a bit of a disappointing cop out.

I still haven't watched anything from the new season, hopefully I'll get around to that at some point soon. I did watch a couple of things though...

Free! Eternal Summer Episodes 1-13 + OVA.

More detailed thoughts here, but basically I enjoyed it and it was a pretty solid second season for the show.

Assassination Classroom Episodes 1-11.

I'm quite enjoying this show so far, it's... zany but generally in a good way and it makes for an accessible fun time with some light and straightforward drama that has a mostly positive feeling. It does have quite a large cast and many of the characters exist just to have one simple storyline that leads to a life lesson tailored to their individual situation, but that generally seems to work well for the show. It does a good job of being able to quickly explain each character and follow through on their storyline, with one of the biggest appeals of the show being in seeing how the teacher will handle each new situation.

There is a larger plot that is mostly just hinted at in these episodes but, to be honest, I think the show could get away with just about anything for the explanation of it's plot because it's already pretty odd and there's plenty to enjoy just on an episode to episode basis.

It's basically fairly relaxed and easy to watch but it's also quite well executed so that makes for a fairly strong whole. I can understand why this show seems to be quite popular.

How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend (SaeKano)-Episodes 11 and 12 (Complete)

Thoroughly enjoyable show, can't wait until Season 2 next year. Still have the OVA to go, so I'm not totally out of episodes yet. Not to start a flame war or anything, but I'd love to own this show, but given it's AoA, it's £140 to own the whole thing. It's a great show, but not that great. Someone please give this title a reasonably priced BD release!

My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU-Episodes 5-9

This isn't quite as painful as I thought, although it is still a rather mediocre affair. I just feel 0 emotional connection to any of these characters. Even Yui, who is about the only likable one, just doesn't really feel well developed or particularly interesting. Hachiman is interesting, but I just don't really care for him at all.

Ep 3 of Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru
Eps 1-3 of Nanbaka...i'll probably drop this as its got boring very quickly
Ep 3 of Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans 2nd Season...sounds like the masked man is Gaelio (sounded like the same seiyuu), i knew he wasn't dead as we didn't see his body and in the Gundamverse no body means they can come back

How To Raise a Boring Girlfriend (SaeKano) OVA (Complete)

Despite being numbered Episode 0, I'm glad I didn't watch this OVA first. The amount of fan service may have put me off watching the rest of the series. Still a decent enough episode though.

My Teen Romantic Comedy Snafu-Episodes 10-13 (Rewatch) (Complete)

I thought maybe the second time around I might get the love and adoration for this anime but I still don't see it. Hopefully Season 2 will be worth the hype, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Will start that tomorrow.

Sound! Euphonium S2-Episode 3

Mahou Shoujo Nante Mou Li Desu Kara S2-Episode 3

Drifters ep 2. Well this is a different feel from the first episode, and if it keeps going like this it could even be my favourite show this season.

Izetta: The Last Witch ep 3. Okay, this is growing on me. Using swords in that way was interesting, and it's definitely got my attention now.

Jormungand ep8-9

This show isn't much given to fan-service, so it surprised me that we got the 'characters relax at beach' sequence. It surprised me even more that the camera seems to spend at least as much, if not more, time ogling the muscular chests of the male characters as it does the bikini glad women, but I suppose that's equality of a sort?
