I watched some Anime today...

Koutetsujou no Kabaneri - Episodes 10 - 12
RE:Zero - Episodes 13 - 15

Kabaneri's last few episodes were... alright I suppose... Can't say I was a fan of the second half of the show in general. Biba just kind of shows up out of nowhere for the sake of having some kind of "plot focus"/villain and four episodes later the show is over. There's lots of things that were never explained, the most glaring thing being "What exactly are the Kabane?". I also couldn't help drawing parallels to Guilty Crown during the last episode in particular too...
Oh, and whilst I remember, I also found the soundtrack for the show pretty forgettable too outside of the OP/EDs. Pretty disappointing considering I had high hopes being Sawano and all.

RE:Zero on the other hand... I don't think I've seen **** get this real so fast since Steins;Gate(?) I'm amazed
it only took 15 episodes for Subaru to break.

Kiznaiver - Episode 7 - 12 (out of 12) (Finished)
Are you going to do another write up now you've finished the series? I quite enjoyed your overview of the first half.

Kiznaiver seemed a little bit of a mess to me (or perhaps I just missed its point), but the good kind, with a couple of endearing charters and a very memorable style.

I'll do a review when I get the chance, no real point in doing an overview of the second half and then regurgitating the same things in a review, of course I'll have to muster up the enthusiasm to write a review in the first place so I don't know when/if I'll start or when I'll be done since it's not a priority. I'm glad that you enjoyed my first impressions however.

Kizniaver is a great show if you adjust your expectations. I was initially disappointed because I was expecting another action romp like Gurren Lagann and Kill la Kill but once I got passed that I found an excellent character driven show. It piqued too soon which made for a disappointing ending, and some of the earlier episodes aren't amazing but it's still a pretty good show. I was going to write a review myself but I never got around to it. If Qaiz is doing one, I probably shouldn't bother now :p

bungo stray dogs ep 2 and 3:
I enjoyed the first ep, but I'm already starting to feel a bit fatigued with this show now. I'm unsure if it's just me or the show though. I think it's a bit of both. There seems to be so much going on in this show, and so many different somewhat jarring elements (ophan story, tiger transforming, guy who want to kill himself, secrect agency, mafioso, weird sister thing ect) and that was what I kind of liked about the first episode, all these weird elements, but I no longer know what's going on or if I even care. I'll probably give it another ep.

Hanamonogatari - complete - Probably the weakest instalment of the series for me. Another ridiculous hair cutting scene at the end What Is it with thi series & short hair?). Still fairly enjoyable. 7/10

Girls Und Panzer-Episodes 10-12 (Complete)

Someone needs to licence the film ASAP!

Bleach-Episode 238-241

Episode 238: So far, this arc isn't really as good as I wanted to be.

Episode 241: Byakuya better have a damn good reason for doing what he's doing...

Berserk (2016)-Episode 3

Boy. This anime is sure going some places...

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable-Episode 16

This episode is dying for an uncensored version.

Short hair is BEST

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time - I've had the urge to re-watch this for a while now, glad I finally caved as I like this movie an awful lot and watching it again was a reminder of just how much I enjoy it and Makoto in general really. I think I'll pick up the new US release of the movie as I feel it deserved better for it's UK one. Anyway now I kinda wanna watch Wolf Children again but I really need to stop re-watching things and try tackling my backlog as it is only getting bigger.....maybe after Wolf Children.

It really isn't and this show is obsessed with it.

I haven't seen any Monogatari yet so I can't comment on this specific example, but it's not uncommon for characters to cut their hair following some major/significant change in their life. I'd imagine there's a cultural element to it that probably has origins in their history but I can't say I know the specifics. Apparently girls will also sometimes cut their hair after being dumped/rejected, although I'm not sure how up to date that is.

It could be something like that or maybe the creators really do just like short hair.

I suspect its the latter but either way I don't care for it as a plot device

So what I'm getting here is that there are quite a few short haired anime girls in this franchise? My interest in watching it may be increasing..... (am I revealing too much about what type of person I am here? lol)

Anyhoo, watched Wolf Children, it's still bloody wonderful on a re-watch. I kinda fear re-watching movies/shows I really enjoyed in case knowing what's coming takes away from it to a point I won't enjoy it again, but I find that's very rarely the case and much like The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, I'm glad I took the time to watch it again. Perhaps now I'll dive into my backlog, no idea where to start so i may just fire a bunch of shows in the Q&A thread and someone can pick what I should watch from it (although I kinda wanna re-watch baccano as I've yet to watch the BD since it came out).

Alderamin on the Sky ep 1. I went into this hoping for something akin to Valkyria Chonicles, and with WW2 style weapons and weird magical elements, emphasis on strategy, and a squad of recruits who are clearly going to be good friends I'd say so far it's looking good. That initial impression might be proven wrong in the next few episodes of course, but even if it is I think there will be plenty for me to enjoy here.

Handa-kun ep 1. The first half left me completely cold, I think the joke went over my head as it's been so long since Barakamon aired, but once Handa himself turned up it was hilarious. A very promising start, mostly.
