the japanese have a thing for 2D characters and im up there with them lol.

i saw this documentary years ago and it was something about sex or something and in japan and korea women love yaoi anime hentai *man love anime* and we know some guys like hentai too.

I really don't think its as common as you make it sound.

Although the idea of "man love anime" does both make me lol and shudder at the same time.

I'm afraid it is quite common amongst women who have embraced the world of 2D. Sorry. There are bajillions of us out there.

It's not seen as anything weird for guys to like the idea of girls doing inappropriate things to one another, right?

I was trying to work out if I thought the proportion of pwp was higher in either instance as opposed to, er, "pure-er" shipping, but I can't decide.
 
i saw it with my own eyes there were women lining up to buy dvds and manga of yaoi *man on man hentai * it was like 3-4 years and i can't get that horrible image out of my head they showed two male characters in bed............... do i have to say it. but that was all nothing else. i guess its not just the guys that are in to that sort of thing hentai, ecchi, that sort of thing

Yeah but thats my point, its only out of the women who really (really) embrace the world of 2D. So when you then narrow it down further to women who really (really) embrace the world of 2D and who also find animated/illustrated characters performing homosexual acts a turn on, I'm guessing your left with about three or maybe four women at a push.

And the idea of guys liking similar animated/ilustrated 2D porn is equally as bizzare and baffling to me. :?

If it is only 3-4 of us, who are all the thousands of girls who attend the doujinshi events and buy the BL games? I can't take responsibility for supporting all of these industries on my own*!

I can never decide whether I want the popularity of Yaoi among women explaining to me or not. If you like guys, wouldn't you want to see a guy being with a girl so that you can, y'know, fantasise? Which leads me to wonder if a lot of women secretly fantasise about being men. Don't get me wrong, I'm fine for women to act/dress like men (and I'd rather there were more of those kind of doujinshi) but... the idea that women might be subconsciously fantasising about having a penis (à la Freud) is a little disturbing.

But then I have a fairly unorthodox taste in women and have never seen what straight men see in two women going at it, so it's probably just me.

Although, there is obviously the fantasy of (somehow) being asked to join in. Which is why so many guys like girl on girl.

Why am I paying myself to buy my own doujinshi?! ;_;

Ahem, anyway, when I read BL I don't actually tend to visualise myself as either of the guys (though some girls certainly do, and create weird weepy bishounen characters, which isn't my thing). I have nothing against heterosexual fanworks as well, it's just that female-orientated heterosexual material is relatively rare and of poor quality in comparison. One of my favourite circles does straight Gundam 00 books aimed at women readers. They are like gold dust on the used market. However, a lot of female anime characters are very much designed to pander to men, and I can't identify with them at all, so I would rather watch two grizzly, honest guys making out than a guy with a youthful dojikko blushing and being cute (or a temptress being overtly slutty in a way that doesn't quite work for me).

Also, there's the whole kinky forbidden love element, which I'm pretty sure guys who like girl/girl stuff can appreciate from the other side (the trope of persevering with a difficult but passionate relationship against the odds has been popular since forever).

I would think it's more simple than that, for most men are but simple creatures.

Men like women, especially naked women. Ergo, two naked women = twice the fun! And if those naked women are "interacting" with each other, all the better! Speaking personally, self-insertion (pardon the double entendre) has never been a part of my smut-viewing experience, so as long as there's at least one woman participant I'm dandy.

1. in the eyes of the ones who like the way there drawn -
perfect body
perfect boobs - for guys or lesbians. and a thing for the girls or gays.
perfect hair
perfect eyes, face,
personality traits.
tomboish, timid, neive, cute, beautiful, bad girl/boy *good girls/boy
liol, teen or mature
it depends on the sort of characters your in too.

i think they see the perfection in the sort of person they want in reality or they just like how there drawn.
