Winter 2015 Legal Anime Streaming Thread

Re: Winter 2015 Stream - Ghost in the Shell [Netflix]

That would be awesome! Even more so if their solution isn't another deal with Animax.

I was surprised when they took their stuff off Viewster but perhaps they were doing it before this new plan. Or maybe they just mean they'll be licensing for even more territories in future so they can prevent even more people watching anime legally :D

Re: Winter 2015 Stream - Ghost in the Shell [Netflix]

Crunchyroll have announced at their panel at IKKiCON that they have licensed Kantai Collection & Aldnoah.Zero Season 2 - http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-882451/new-winter-titles-kancolle-and-aldnoahzero-2

Aldnoah.Zero Season 2 has been confirmed for the UK, but Kantai Collection still needs it's territories to be announced.

Because they announced Kantai Collection at a panel in the US - I believe it's out of FUNimation's reach. Chances for UK are high.

Indeed (on the chance part), Funimation only has 1 slot left and (as I mentioned previously) Fafner Exodus is the only show that could fit the slot.

I'm still hoping DRRR!! X2 will be UK viewable.

- Hey @FUNimation would it ever be possible to let people from the UK view your streaming content? I'll even subscribe and pay you for it

- We are working on expanding our territories for digital content in 2015. Keep posted for updates!

Interesting to know how this will play out - I suppose it's positive that they're thinking of other territories - but the downside could mean another case of a split market, meaning potentially another service we'll either have to go to/subscribe to instead of having everything under one roof.

Unfortunately, those chances are extremely low since from what I've heard on UKA, kancolle is sub licensed from funimation so it's unlikely to see the light of day in the UK through crunchyroll.

Re: Winter 2015 Stream - ALDNOAH.ZERO 2 [CR]

I'd prefer it if FUNimation simply sublicensed the shows they have UK rights for to Crunchyroll, although considering what's happened with previous series', I'd say there's a higher chance of them going to Animax.

Re: Winter 2015 Stream - ALDNOAH.ZERO 2 [CR]

I don't mean to sound negative but I'm pretty sure that forum report is completely made up. Firstly, they say that Crunchyroll only has one license for the UK yet there are six boxes here: http://www.crunchyroll.com/lineup

The boxes often change in number but only having one license for the UK would be rather sad. And it would be weird that some random UK fan would know more than Crunchyroll's own licensing team right now.

Secondly, where are they getting this information that Kancolle is a FUNimation sublicense? Nobody else has ever reported this and of all of the possibilities I don't see it as the most likely for FUNi's last simulcast slot. And they're not in the business of licensing things then giving their biggest competitor exclusivity.

None of this means that Kancolle is definitely coming to the UK (or that FUNimation's business strategy doesn't suck in general), it's just that the report is completely untrustworthy. If it's correct, I think it will be by coincidence rather than the poster actually having inside information.

Re: Winter 2015 Stream - ALDNOAH.ZERO 2 [CR]

I can't imagine Crunchyroll ending up with only one new license - it's in their interest to keep paying subscribers sweet with a decent spread of new shows. If they can't, then they must know that a certain percentage won't renew their sub fee.

You're not alone on this matter, I'm completely facepalm-ing on the dozen amount of people saying that stuff (heck some of them even think Anime Limited's Wakanim is responsible for taking some of the titles).

The reason they believe KanColle is a Funi title is because Madman picked up the Australian rights. And with that, many believe that's what Funimation has picked up for their final title (Madman does pick up Sentai titles!).

KanColle was confirmed for US Crunchyroll at a US convention.. it's not that hard to notice CR users!

UK should already have the Aniplex of America titles on Crunchyroll unless otherwise. With regards to Durarara!!, Anime Limited would have said so and besides wasn't Wakanim supposed to be on hiatus for improving their website? As for Animax, I feel they've gone quiet for a while so I don't see them snatching any titles. They may instead get shows that are already available on other formats like Crunchyroll (Terra Formars as an example).

Besides I believe these lot should be available for the UK on Crunchyroll:
- Aldnoah.Zero 2 *confirmed*
- Dog Days Season 3
- Durarara!! X2
- JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders Part 2
- Kuroko's Basketball Season 3
- Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend

And maybe these ones also:
- Isuca
- Juuou Mujin no Fafnir
- KanColle
- Koufuku Graffiti
- Maria the Virgin Witch
- Military!
- The Testament of Sister New Devil

Re: Winter 2015 Stream - ALDNOAH.ZERO 2 [CR]

First off, it's time for magical boys this season with Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE! starting on Tuesday, January 6th at 10:40am PST for Crunchyroll members worldwide excluding Asia.

The story revolves around the members of the “Earth Defense Club” aka the “Do Nothing Club” at Binan High School. One day, the club members are soaking in a hot bath together when all of a sudden a mysterious pink wombat appears out of thin air! The wombat asks the members to lend it their help to protect the Earth. At school the next day, each of the club members receives a magical bracelet enveloping them in a dazzling light.

Kazutomi Yamamoto (Gugure! Kokkuri-san), Yuichiro Umehara (Orenchi no Furo Jijo), Kotaro Nishiyama (Haikyu!!), Yusuke Shirai (The World Is Still Beautiful), Toshiki Masuda (Samurai Flamenco) and Mugihito (Tokyo ESP) will play the five main magical boys and their wombat sidekick, respectively, in the series. Other notable voice actors cast include Hiroshi Kamiya (Attack on Titan's Levi), Jun Fukuyama (Black Butler's Grell), and Takuma Terashima (Uta no Prince Sama's Otoya).

RE: the thread title - Death Note and Vampire Knight are technically Kaze titles, although Manga was distributing them for Viz Media Europe before they rebranded.
Death Note is definitely Manga not Khazi, you can tell from the comparative lack of crapness of the DVDs, besides it was released before Khazi started releasing discs here..
See bold. It's still licensed by VME/Kaze, not Manga.

It might be worth pointing out that Animax have Death Note in their catalogue already, so I assume that at the very least, Kazé have the streaming rights to the series. It does seem odd though that every other title being added is a Manga UK license and not one from Kazé.
Vampire Knight is Kaze too. They may be leveraging them onto Netflix via Starz/Manga though? - like how Starz handle digital distro for a lot of stuff they otherwise have no involvement in e.g. Right Stuff titles like The Third etc.

In fact, why aren't the major Shonen Jump series' available on the service? I imagine that Dragonball Z would be a major hit on Netflix, but of course, it could be down to Toei Animation being butts (after all, One Piece is only available to be simulcast in North America). Naruto and Bleach are available worldwide on Crunchyroll though, so I don't see why they would be an issue? (Bleach also being on Animax must mean that Crunchyroll don't have exclusivity, right?).
Digimon is available on Amazon Instant Video in the UK now, but since it is on Netflix in the US I wish it was on Netflix here too...

Re: Winter 2015 Stream - Testament of Sister New Devil [CR]

Not sure if this would help but I had a look at Crunchyroll's Facebook page and they have liked the following titles:

Absolute Duo - Picked up, Non-English only, FUNi title
Ansatsu Kyoushitsu [Assassination Classroom] - FUNi title
Durarara!! X2 - Picked up, US confirmed while others TBA
Isuca
Kantai Collection - Picked up, US confirmed while others TBA
Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata [Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend] - Picked up, US confirmed while others TBA
Seiken Tsukai no World Break [World Break: Aria of Curse for a Holy Swordsman!] - FUNi title
Shinmai Maou no Testament [The Testament of Sister New Devil] - Picked up, UK confirmed

They did however also like Seven Deadly Sins and Amagi Brilliant Park which didn't make it but hey, we can guess right?

Re: Winter 2015 Stream - Testament of Sister New Devil [CR]

Another Funimation title lands on Crunchyroll, Samurai Warriors will be available Worldwide except Asia.

So it looks like whenever a Funi title hits Crunchyroll it's either a) Worldwide except English Speaking territories and Asia or b) Worldwide except Asia.

It's possible that some of the previous Funi titles will also arrive on the service soon:

Funi titles not on any other service:
Assassination Classroom [Ansatsu Kyoushitsu]
Death Parade
Rolling Girls [Rolling☆Girls]
Tokyo Ghoul √A
World Break: Aria of Curse for a Holy Swordsman! [Seiken Tsukai no World Break]

On Crunchyroll for Non-English zones:
Absolute Duo
Kamisama Kiss 2 [Kamisama Hajimemashita◎]
Shonen Hollywood -Holly Stage for 50-
Yurikuma Arashi

On Crunchyroll for UK:
Cute High Earth Defence Club Love! [Binan Koukou Chikyuu Bouei-bu Love!]
Samurai Warriors [Sengoku Musou]

Re: Winter 2015 Stream - Samurai Warriors [CR]

Both of the Funimation titles that CR has for "world outside Asia" are TV Tokyo titles. Crunchyroll has had "world outside Asia" rights (at least available to subscribers) for the vast majority of new TV Tokyo anime for years.

There is one TV Tokyo title that Funi have picked up but CR has not yet announced rights to, and that's Seiken Tsukai no World Break, which is also the only new TV Tokyo anime that CR have not yet announced the rights to.

Re: Winter 2015 Stream - Samurai Warriors [CR]

I'm really glad we're getting Sengoku Musou. With the first of the new shows I actually want to watch starting today, it feels as though the season is finally getting started; I hope that the UK streaming services (that aren't dead or dying) will be making their announcements soon.
