It's election time, and if this hasn't been dealt with before...what's your preferred anime genre?
Mine is fantasy, don't be alarmed as I voted first, and we need to get the balance. Please vote above, ne? Sry if your preferred genre isn't here, just add your next-best instead!

Action stuff - Whether it's got mechas, samurai, gunmen or school kids, I'd like to see the fists flying and some close-quarter action.

Very hard to choose a favourite, probably more thought provoking (or retro) sci-fi. But mecha, slice of life, insanity... they're all good.

I'm completely oblivious to genre, unless ecchi can be counted as a genre then I try to avoid that. What I like has zero connection to other shows I like - though I do have a slight affliction towards science fiction, but not necessarily sci-fi anime. Anyway, I enjoy the good old fighting shonen so I clicked that PvP one.

i would daresay Romance, but more specifically Romantic-Comedy

i agree with Jayme, i don't really care that much about genre, there's good things of a genre and bad things of a genre

I went for cultural/samurai because I love historical stuff :)

I particularly love historical fantasy, however I could only pick one!

I enjoy the whole Sci-fi/cyberpunk genres. Also, psychological.

I agree with Lupus, anime is not all that great atm.

Got some interesting suggestions for some more genres here...sci-fi...totally left it out, aargh! But hey, looks like PVP is leading the way.

LUPUS and YUVIE - yeah, anime is pretty dull as yet but I recommend (if u're stuck for ideas) some anime review sites for inspiration such as Anime-Planet, this site is also good fun:

Anime, by and large, being dull to someone isn't to do with the anime they are watching - its a much more personal thing. If its all you watch, you will probably burn out, you need other forms of entertainment as well to keep that enjoyment sustained for a long period.

Totally, I do love me some robots but I would kill myself if I only ever watched mecha shows. Vareity ..variety is the spice of life =D

Romantic, sci-fi, comedy with giant robots, battleships and planets blowing up.
Or
sci-fi space operas
or sci-fi dramas
or any combination of the above.
and a bit of romance helps too. :)
