I finished reading Dracula today (it was awesome; everyone should read it!) so I am now making my way through the extensive critical analysis that was included with the book :]

Dracula is quite possibly my favourite novel ever, apparently it's a metaphor for syphilis. (fact for you all there)

I'm fairly certain it's my favourite novel ever, so far. It's brilliantly written and hugely rewarding and entertaining. It was also very cool to see the origins of the Dracula myth.

I think the syphilis thing is quite likely. Vampirism is a debilitating disease that spreads from one person to another through an intimate encounter (which is exactly like syhpilis - so it all makes sense). Bram Stoker, himself, died of syphilis and he had it for about 2 decades, so he was clearly well aware of it. I also like how relatable to today it is (replace syphilis with AIDS or Hepatitis C).

I'm surprised more people haven't read Dracula, to be honest. It really is ace!
