What series do you think should get a reboot?

I'd like to see a proper attempt to adapt 3x3 Eyes but I fear that ship has sailed. All it has to show for 40 volumes of manga are seven OVAs that cover the first five, and even they were heavily compressed.

Now there's one you don't hear mentioned much these days - I wasn't aware the manga ran for anything like as long as that. Is the ending radically different from the OAVs?

How can those two statements possibly tally with each other!?

The original Dirty Pair is just fine the way it is. I've never even been able to bring myself to watch Flash because of what they did to the character designs.

I'd like to see no more reboots or remakes of anything, ever. Sure, I've watched and even enjoyed Hellsing Ultimate, the new Eva movies and FMA: Brotherhood, but I know deep down that they're just yet more nails in the coffin of originality.

The last OVA was adapted from volume 5, so there's a lot of content after that. I've not read anywhere near the end would like to someday.

Devilman could do with a TV series, even though the OVAs were fantastic. Cutie Honey could do with a remake of the 70s TV series.

We've had Koutetsu Jeeg and Mazinger Z reboots after all.

Love Hina is perfect as it is, so a reboot would struggle to live up to the standard of the original. I would still love every bit of it though. :D
A faithful adaptation of the love hina manga wouldn't go amiss, I guess. The anime ending i disappointing, even the OVA's didn't narrowed it down as it should have.

I wouldn't like to see a reboot for cowboy bebop, but maybe a sequel could be all right.

Once again, I wouldn't like to see a reboot for Dirty Pair. The original is simply brilliant. A sequel would be nice though, but it must be a sequel to the original, not Flash.

3x3 is one that I really want to see as well. This reminds me that I hate Dark horse profusely sometimes. Not finishing 3x3 eyes and Seraphic feather must be considered crimes against mankind!

F/SN as a series of movies, including Fate/Zero. Also Tsukihime/Kagetsu Tooya/Melty done as a TV series.

I would kill for a Tsukihime reboot that was more like the game/ manga.

I vote for a manga accurate reboot of Shaman King

F/SN is too long to be compressed into movies. Each route has (roughly) 25 hours of content. The F/SN series was the right length, but it really failed at pacing and content.

Even though I adore it as it is, i'd love to see Trigun rebooted with the Trigun Maximum storyline.

hmm, I have somewhat mixed feelings about this idea. You see as much as I love the Trigun Maximum manga and storyline, in some ways(and this is very rare for an anime that was completed before the manga)I feel the anime Trigun actually ended up with a better storyline overall.

Don't get me wrong the anime had it's flaws and Maximum definitely has many strong points which I love it for. However overall I just prefer the more simple story of the anime that didn't get over complex like the manga did in some ways, the manga also seemed to rely more and more on hyper violent crazy action which towards the end got a wee bit too much for me at times.

Don't get me wrong I'm still a huge fan of the manga storyline, but I just feel that the anime got the balance so spot on the first time around(yes I even totally loved the ending) that I feel an updated series is just not needed and may even blemish our great memories of the original.

sorry for the ramble, I've thought about his before as you can tell

I feel the anime came off much better than the manga, maybe it's cos I saw the anime first, but after the manga got past the stuff that had been in the show I didn't really like the direction it went in. Some of the new characters were cool and the assassin's school but Wolfwood really being a child who's body had aged and being a supersoldier I think detracted from his character. I think he was better being a badass normal compared to Vash's plant. His death was also more affecting in the anime, in the manga he essentially just overdosed on super serum and burnt out (I know that's not exactly right but I can't be bothered to look it up), but in the anime Vash is indirectly responsible for his death by a) leaving him to go and take out the sniper, whom he would've returned from quicker if he'd killed him and not buried him and b) Wolfwood being influenced by Vash's no kill philosophy

While the backstories for the Gung Ho Guns was interesting, I think humanising ALL the villains was a bad move, sometimes bad guys should just be bad guys. Also Legato's telekinesis via Vash's arm, while kinda dumb was still less weird than the whole I have invisible threads to control people

Frankly I also liked the plants having ab it of mystery retained about them and the big war at the end I felt was less powerful than the brother vs brother dynamic in the show.

Obviously it's just how I personally feel and I probably gave up on the manga in terms of my tolerance half way because some panels were so hard to read and figure out just what the hell was going on =S.

I'm not saying the anime was perfect either, but I enjoyed the overall plot much more.

Sorry for the rant, like you I've thought about this before heh XP

Unlimited Blade Works, worked fine for covering the entire arc. They're doing Heavens Feel anyway, a redo of Fate as a film sholud be perfectly possible.

Y'all have watched a cam rip of UBW? Or did the BD leak early?

But yeah Max, I'm talking like 7+ movies, KnK style. So about the same length as a two cour TV series, at least.

No it didn't.
Didn't think UBW was too short

F/SN= 25*3=75 hours
CLANNAD= 300 hours (how the hell did they make an even longer game than that)= 49 ep - (recap/filler 2 eps)(+ Tomoyo+ Kyou)~52ep
therefore F/SN ~ 13 ep ~ 3 movies

Should work fine as 3 movies.

cinema :p
It screened in London along with Redline.

The entirety of F/SN for a standard reader clocks in at about 50 hours, that's all 3 routes. So its closer to 17 hours per route.

Then you want to take out as many of the trivial scenes as possible, the VN spends quite a bit of time on cooking and the archery club etc.

2 movies per route would allow for more than enough time.

I would also like to see a reboot of FS/N in the same vein as the KnK films were. But i would rather they did that with the UBW scenario as its definately the best out of the three Shame they went with the true ending in the film though!

Whats this about

"They're doing Heavens Feel anyway, a redo of Fate as a film sholud be perfectly possible."

I'll just say that the current latest release of FS/N is the UBW's scenario unless i read what you typed there wrong? Heaven's Feel was certainly the weakest out of the three

Anyway, i'd also like to see a reboot of the original Gundam along with Zeta and ZZ!

UBWs disk release isn't out yet (it's already sold well), it's been suggested they'll be doing Heaven's Feel already.
