What manga are you reading now?

Trigun Maximum is the continuation of two 300+ page books. The story starts just after Vash has spent two years in hiding. I'd imagine it'd be pretty confusing for someone who hasn't read the first manga or watched the anime.

The reason for there being two series is that the shounen magazine Trigun was serialized in originally died. It restarted later in a seinen magazine. Both series are the same, though Maximum is supposed to be more dark because it's a seinen title.

I read volume 27 of Bleach this morning.

Going on my memories of the anime, I remembered that, aside from a few fight episodes with good animation, it wasn't very good after episode 63. I now realize my main problem with the early post-SS episodes was the fillers. The serious decrease in art and animation quality also played a part. I actually enjoyed reading all 27 volumes a lot; not just up to the end of SS.

I stopped the anime just after where volume 27 ends. When the second rescue art gets going is when the pacing goes to hell and the fights start to get boring, iirc. But I'll be picking the next few volumes when they finally get releases since I nown own every volume released in English.

I've now aught up with both Bleach and Claymore. It feels good to be able to pre-order manga and not have to buy 20 volumes all at once. :D

Next on my list is GTO. I own 24 volumes (when is a bin worthy freebie copy, though) and just need volume 6 to be able to get beyond the start.

Re-read 1-2 of GTO and read volumes 3-5.

10/10, #1, me like.

As well as being perverted, GTO is a touching story. At heart it isn't about panties and stupidity; it's about bullying and the gap between those who teach and those who are taught, and that's why I love it. (Of course, the mangaka being skilled at drawing hot school girls in minis plays a part, too.)

While reading volumes 3-5, I came close to putting Ms. Murai in my top character list, only not doing so because she faded out of the picture. A 27 year old, braless, mini-skirt wearing MILF, with a son who has a mother complex and a horny teacher who, mainly to annoy Murai, chases after her. Some good laughs in the chapters involving her.

...However, I ended up adding another character to my top 10 instead - Tomoko (pictured above). You can't help but feel sorry for and like her for how sweet she is. Slow or not, I'm in love. It made me lol when, in an attempt to cheer her up, Onizuka got down in a sandpit with her and played with figures, bringing in his own figure character - a character based on himself. I loved the chapters involving her; they highlighted all of Onizuka's qualities and provided lots of drama and laughs.

For now, GTO is replacing FMA in my top 5. I get the feeling, like with all lengthy serialized stories, the quality will start to drop around the middle, though. There are signs of it happening towards the end of the fifth volume, where a new anti-Onizuka teacher gets introduced at random. Since Onizuka has nearly all of his class on his side with 20 volumes to go, I can't see how the story is going to continue to move at a fast pace. Due to my insight and me having been informed in advance, I forsee lots of fillerish content.

One last thing: TBD are pissing me off. I ordered volume 6 - the last volume I need - days ago. They still haven't sent it. I'll be lucky if I can continue reading before next week because TBD are so slow nowadays. ****s.

Note: FU and your work, Chaos.

I was also scared of GTO losing quality and repeating itself as it went on, but trust me it only continues to get better and improve upon itself all the way to the end.

At the moment i'm re-reading all the Shaman King manga i've got to tide me over till i can get more.

@OMFGLOL Nice avatar :) Guessing you a Big O fan then as well :p

yeah i love big O, it doesn't get enough love seriously, it is probaly my favourite mech show of all time, the writing and story is brilliant

I absolutely agree, although the ending did confuse the hell out of me, why i've decided to chase down the region 1 dvds in the hope that a rewatch will explain it all.

I read a few chapters of the Manga version of the show a few weeks back, it goes into a bit more detail about certain things while changing the introductions of other characters. In the manga they actually make Beck psychotic and a real threat

That's good to hear/read/whatever. If not for me not owning volume 6 (**** off TBD) I probably would've gone beyond reading 5 volumes in a row. GTO is addictive and easy to read, my only issues being the dodgy translation and how small some of the text is.

I'm hoping Tomoko appears more later. There isn't much/any GTO porn, so I have to rely on the manga for more Tomoko service. :(

I want to watch the anime, at some point. It's too bad it currently costs £22 x 2 for cheapo Funi sets. Hopefully the pound doesn't stay at around 1.6 forever...

The early volumes of GTO are great but it does, in my opinion, enter a decline mid-way through its run. I've no idea why Tohru Fujisawa thought it was a good idea to relegate Onizuka to side character status for several volumes, nor why he believed anyone wanted to read page after page of the verbose ramblings of Uchiyamada or Teshigawara. It does get better again, though.

Black Lagoon Volume 4. The story is the yakuza one where the anime finished so I have no idea where the story is going to go after the next volume. An enjoyable read, although for me it does not quite capture the action of the anime.

Same here, the ending confused the hell out of me too even as far as to go onto forums jsut to see people's interpertations of it but i think i sort of get it now but even if you don't it's still one of them endings that just works and although you may have no idea what the **** just happened, you still know it was good.

I actually never knew there was a manga for it, may have to look into that, lmao i can't imagine beck being psychotic and a serious threat :p , i would like seebach's character to get more insight though he is very interesting.

@ AION:

don't worry tomoko even gets her own little spin-off stories later on in the manga and definitely pick up the anime when you can it manages to do a lot of things better than the manga, such as tomoko's arc itself.

In the manga i'm sure Seebach gets introduced earlier, and before Big Duo hits the scene (also that little introduction is a lot different then how it was in the anime, no mummy robot in this one)

There is one big flaw in the manga though and that is the fact that it only runs 6 vols which is supposed to be representive of the first 13 eps in the anime (the point where the three foreign giant robots appear)

Still reading Satan 666. It's taking for forever to get threw. Got very slow at one point too, however it does seem to be picking up a little thank god. And all it took was for a loving family to be murdered in cold blood.
I'm currently on Chapter 27.

I also read Chapter 93 of Claymore and it was freaking awesome. Just wish I didn't have to wait a month for each chapter to be released. ¬_¬

Started rereading Bleach as recently I bought volumes 21-24 and have nothing better to do

Not very taxing on the brain, but I guess it's the manga equivalent of a popcorn movie :D

I also, just finished reading this week's Bleach and Naruto chapters. Naruto was okay, but Bleach was great! Pity there was no One Piece chapter this week though
There won't be any one piece ch. this week? or it's just not out yet?

If only I could read manga at work, I would have read Naruto and bleach already :p

Eichiro is taking a week off to "collect data". And by that, he means keeping us in suspense from what happened last chapter!
