What did you RECEIVE today? PHOTOS EDITION!

The only info I could really find on it was in a reddit thread where someone said they tried it on a region free player in the dedicated Region B mode and it worked but depends if you want to trust some random reddit user.

Considering the amount of physical media content on Youtube there doesn't seem to be one video on this release which I'm pretty surprised by.

I am planning on picking it up myself so if you don't get an answer I'd be happy to test and let you know.

More than one person in that thread being confident that it's region A locked is strange to me, when Japanese anime blu-rays have always been (like, 99+% of the time) region free.

I'm really late in asking; do you know if the Vampire Hunter D Japanese Blu Ray is Compatible with a UK Blu Ray player? I'm really interested because it apparently the restoration is great but I can't find out if it's Region Free or Region 2 Compatible.
It's region free since I didn't need to change the region on my moded 4k blu-ray player.

Exclusive notes from the DC production committee.

"Otomo hasn't been buying any Batman recently. Anyone got ideas?
What about a sequel to Batman Ninja?
Good. Anything else?
Let's get Japanese voice actors.
Nice.
What about Japanese Gangsters?
Great, put Yakuza in the title.
And Wonder Woman as fanservice.
Brilliant. He'll buy that at full price.

I'm happy with all of these, though the trousers will need rehemming as they're a bit too long, I could have sized down a bit what with that and them being made of stretch fabric!! XP The stickers are all lovely and stick very well to paper, blue spotted whale is the chonky good boi of cheerful softness that you would expect, the papercraft pink things are actually stickers this time as advertised unlike the purple witch papers I got before that turned out to just be papers without sticker backs, contrary to the grandiose claims of self-adhesion made by the product page (though they were still very cool!) Haven't tested the new lippy yet but it's the exact same one from the exact same seller that I always buy that lipstick from so I don't foresee any issues. The fantasy princess thingy is a single reel of sticky-backed tape that you can cut bits out from to use or just put a section of it on a page, it also sticks to paper well :)

How big is the blue whale?

How big is the blue whale?

The one I got or a real one? Pretty sure the one I got isn't 1:1 scale... unless all those nature documentaries about majestic queens of the ocean were lying to me 😅 🤔

Here's the image from the product page giving an idea of the size, I got the smaller 33cm/12.99 inch one, and here's the link :)

Ok, I was hoping you were sitting in your living room with a huge plush.

Aww that would be awesome tbf! 🥰

I think the biggest one I have is an orangutan from when I was a wee toddler, that my grandma won in a raffle, still not that big but bigger than my other ones, I also have the iconic Ikea snake (green w black zigzag stripes) so that's the longest one! I kinda want a giant Snorlax haha. I guess a lifesized blue whale plushie would take up most/all of the space in a single room in my flat? I know some whales are really really big but others less so. I also have this adorably cuddly avocado that's an expectant mother to many teddy bears in my collection, some people have been a bit disturbed by it but I love her and her lil teddy bear babies 🥰

EDIT: Felt the need to add images of djungelskog and trans Ikea shark (one of my trans friends tells me this was a meme) :)

2025 HAUL - MAY v5

Two packages that I have combined together. This is pretty much the last haul for the month as I intentionally stalled on picking up any more until my work trip is out of the way early next week. Switch 2 is expected to be the first arrival of next month unless Anime Ltd or MVM ships items early.

4K Haul - The Penguin 1.jpg

#14: Third Window Films Haul
The final set of items belongs to a Third Window Films haul. The distributor is celebrating their 20 years of UK distribution and Terracotta Store is offering 20% off on their releases that are currently in stock. Since I still have a bunch of older releases not yet picked up, I used this opportunity to focus solely on that. The sale apparently ends near the end of the first week of June so I can sort out another haul before then.

Let's start off with one release that's actually not ordered from Terracotta because it wasn't listed, in fact I don't think it's in print anymore because it's not available on Amazon and eBay listings are scalper levels of prices. Fortunately HMV had a copy and I think I ended up with one of the last ones available. And that is Sion Sono's 2015 film The Whispering Star (ひそひそ星), a more family friendly film compared to his other titles in his filmography, and this release also includes a documentary by Nagisa Oshima's son Arata Oshima called The Sion Sono (園子温という生きもの).

Next we go back to the Terracotta haul with more Sion Sono releases. Here we have his 2012 film The Land of Hope (希望の国), a drama focused on civilians caught up by the 2011 disaster, and his 2015 film Love & Peace (ラブ&ピース), also family friendly but with a tokusatsu twist in the mix. With these two, I finally own all of Sion Sono's films released by Third Window Films. Considering recent events I don't think we'll get any more from the director in terms of the other films not yet brought over to the UK but what we got are a great selection of cult classics.

Next we have Ken Ochiai's 2014 film Uzumasa Limelight (太秦ライムライト), a film about making a samurai film starring the late Seizō Fukumoto in the leading role. I've heard about this film over the years but never got around to picking it up and here we are. And then we have Shinya Tsukamoto's 2002 film A Snake of June (六月の蛇), an erotic thriller which is also the last one that I needed to pick up from Tsukamoto's filmography from Third Window Films. This film was also included in Arrow's box set but the content is the same. If you want an indie budget with some very interesting story and concepts, do check out Tsukamoto's works because they're great.

There's now 7 films left to own all of Third Window's releases on Blu-ray (excluding their kickstarter release); Love and Other Cults, Suffering of Ninko, Onoda: 10,000 Nights in the Jungle, Adrift in Tokyo, One Percenter, Your Lovely Smile and the upcoming The Box Man. Third Window may not have the best quality discs that Arrow, Eureka and Radiance have, but its the type of films they put out that makes up for it.

In terms of what to expect for the June haul, we have the Nintendo Switch 2 console, hopefully some Anime Limited releases ship out, plan to get a Bitmap Books release, and there's also the Birthday haul (turning 30 on the 21st).

Picked up some rare bargains in HMV this afternoon. Got the Dragon Ball Super: Super hero 4k/blu ray steelbook for £12.99 (reduced from £24.99). I guess it pays to be behind on collecting stuff at times. The real surprise though was finding a cool Doraemon T-shirt that was £9.99 (reduced from £21.99). I suspect they didn't sell many of these as Doraemon is hardly a household name here in the UK. I think its only exposure here was an incomplete dub of the 2005 anime was shown on a kids TV station (Boomerang) and that one PS4/switch game "story of seasons" was released in English. It always surprises me when companies put out some merch for a franchise that doesn't have much of an established presence in the UK market. The merch you see in the likes of HMV is usually all the Shonen Jump stuff, the only exception being the Junji Ito T-shirts.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 (PS5) and Team Sonic Racing (PS4)

I've played Xenoverse 2 a lot on other platforms so this won't be a new experience for me but it'll be nice to play through it with improved graphics and performance.

Team Sonic Racing I've played a little of on PC but as I don't play my PC much these days (it's getting old), I decided to pick it up on PS4, especially with Sonic Racing Crossworlds releasing later this year.
