What did you RECEIVE today? PHOTOS EDITION!

I picked up this box set from Korea back in February; the first copy got lost in the mail, so the seller sent out a second copy that I received yesterday. The box includes a lift-off lid, booklet, two discs in thinpak cases, and English subtitles:

3x3 Eyes

2024 HAUL - APRIL CHAPTER: BATCH #5

Two packages as of late; one last Monday and another for today.

Black Mask - 05.jpg

There's been a lot of interesting Eureka releases as per usual but I can't get every single one of them upfront. For the time being I went for Daniel Lee's 1996 film Black Mask (黑俠) as it's being released as a limited edition rather than a first print edition. The reason here is because there are some additional versions of the film that are included exclusively on a second Blu-ray disc (so it's pretty much like how The Millionaires' Express was handled).

I am interested in getting the China O'Brien 4K release but was priced out for the time being (the Eureka pre-order bundle didn't have the 4K option included in the selection last I checked).

With Burst Angel, Samurai 7 and Trinity Blood all arriving throughout the month, the fourth and final Gonzo Blu-ray upgrade makes its appearance with Witchblade. This one I am familiar with thanks to the comic book's ties to The Darkness but the Gonzo anime is an original story that is more or less set within the universe but not adapting the comic's story and characters.

Like Trinity Blood we have a booklet to go with the release which is pretty much from the Funimation release. The Blu-ray is also an in-house Funimation SD Remaster upscale type so this won't be a native HD release like the others. You can view more photos and specs on my blog.

Got a little game haul today.

RE Village was from The Game Collection and the rest were from CeX today after I went to see Spy x Family.

After finishing R&C 2016 the other day I wanted to pick up the rest of the series so I've made a start now. The Persona 5 steelbook was only a tenner as well which I couldn't pass up.

Persona 5 (Steelbook) (PS4), Resident Evil Village (Gold Edition) (PS5) and Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction + A Crack in Time (PS3)

Delighted that I now have all six of the Bobobo-bo Bo-Bobo manga that were released in English.

For some reason the first book isn't book 1, and also the first book they released in the West starts halfway through the manga in Japan. Who can say why this one didn't win many fans in the Western world, lol. Anyway, despite all of that, I love it.

Here's some random samples of the bonkers humour in it.

As a reminder, Bobobo is on a mission to defeat a gang of thieves who steal people's hair. Bobobo teams up with a character that looks like the sun, and a character made out of jelly. Their special fighting technique is "hajike", which apparently means doing weird things until you confuse the enemy to death. Here's the very first page of the "first" book:

This is the sun (Don Patchi) apparently killing himself so an enemy can more easily be defeated - but then immediately being healed because he drinks milk - and then suddenly putting on a musical about milk, on behalf of the Milk Association.

Here's a scene where an enemy's special move is to throw heavy gems at the enemy. Bobobo and the gang defeat this move by turning into trophy wives, and starting a TV soap opera about their emotional struggles with their husbands.

And finally, here's an enemy who tries to consume the life force of the gang - only to find out that they're quite happy to live inside him and settle down to a suburban life.

Madness. Absolute madness. I love it.
