Trying to keep my spending down until December, I still dipped into Rarewaves sale with an extra 10% off.
They've split my 5 item order into 5 packages with nearly a week for 3 to arrive. 2 days between parcels.

2023 HAUL VER 11.2
(note: images are hosted via AUKN for the meantime)

I have today off work and this week is filled with incoming packages, caused by delays from distributors or early arrivals from other distributors. The final Rightstuf orders are also arriving this week.

FAREWELL TO SPACE IRRESPONSIBLE CAPTAIN RIGHTSTUF HAUL - PART 2:

Welcome to the final batch of items coming from Rightstuf before they were absorbed into Crunchyroll Store. This haul comprises of five different orders arriving either consolidated or separately at different times. There's been some disruption with how Rightstuf have been shipping them out, and one particular package has gone through hell, but this week they are all arriving.

All orders have been sent to Stackry to balance the costs (today's order cleared customs for additional context). If you're interested in using Stackry for the first time, I also have a referral link that you can use to get $10 off shipping for your first order. I've written up my overall thoughts in my August & September hauls if you want some extra context and info regarding them but overall I have had a solid experience in general. As long as you use Global Mail Shipping (focuses on DHL + Evri) and don't have way too many items in your overall finalised package it'll go through fine to the UK.

For this part, all of the titles came from Batch #1 which consists of Crunchyroll releases (with some originating from Funimation) which was supposed to have been consolidated with Batch #3 but Rightstuf had decided to merge Batch #3 & #4 together which was annoying. And then that package went in limbo so I decided to send out Batch #1 without waiting any longer (and allow the remaining batches to go through customs without too much issue). These arrived last Monday and arrived via Evri.

Starting off with the fantasy shows (aka non-Isekai). Two of these I have watched during simulcast.

The Duke of Death and His Maid Season 1 [Tested & confirmed: Region A & B]
Animated by J.C.Staff in 2021, directed by Yoshinobu Yamakawa and based on a manga. This is one of the more surprising anime shows out there because its concept holds up pretty well, especially with the CG animation done by the same folks who adapted Hi-Score Girl. Happy there's a third season in the works as I've watched both seasons during simulcast thus far. Crunchyroll released the Blu-ray in July 2022.

The Genius Prince's Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt [Tested & confirmed: Region A & B]
Animated by Yokohama Animation Lab in 2022, directed by Masato Tamagawa and based on a light novel. I was rather entertained by this series, and I know the main protagonist can be a bit of a dick at times but as the episodes went by I found him more likeable. Also has a fun selection of characters throughout. Crunchyroll released the Blu-ray in January 2023.

The Heike Story [Tested & confirmed: Region A & B]
Animated by Science SARU in 2021, directed by Naoko Yamada and based on a classic tale. This one I didn't watch during simulcast and given the director and studio I have heard positive buzz about it so I figured I may as well pick it up sooner than later. Crunchyroll released the Blu-ray in November 2022.

Next we have some isekai shows, both I have watched during simulcast.

Skeleton Knight in Another World [Tested & confirmed: Region A & B]
Animated by Studio Kai in 2022, directed by Katsumi Ono and based on a light novel. Similar to Goblin Slayer folks got put off by some moments in the first episode, but if you get past that the rest of the series is a lot of fun. Skeleton dude is pretty chill and he gets Ponta-kun tagging along who's a fun animal companion. Also has a dark elf which is a rarity these days. The show also has a pretty great opening song which was done by a YouTube artist who sang cover songs. Crunchyroll released the Blu-ray in June 2023.

Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs Season 1 [Tested & confirmed: Region A & B]
Animated by ENGI in 2022, directed by Kazuya Miura & Shin'ichi Fukumoto and based on a light novel. Despite the character designs being completely different to the novels, this was also very entertaining and I love the direction they have gone with. This one also has a banger opening song. Crunchyroll released the Blu-ray in May 2023.

Next we have a catalog batch dedicated to Eureka Entertainment. This is one of those hauls that should have been done a long time ago but had been put off for ages and eventually licenses expire. Here we have a mixture of out of print titles and also some that are still available for the time being.

IMG_20231109_124525.jpg

Starting off with the readily available films. Here we have Hou Hsiao-hsien's 1987 film Daughter of the Nile (尼羅河女兒), Yuen Woo-ping's 1978 film Drunken Master (醉拳) and Kôji Fukada's 2016 film Harmonium (淵に立つ), all three are part of the Masters of Cinema range which includes a booklet. Drunken Master I have ordered from Terracotta which arrived today, whilst the other two came from Deff which arrived yesterday.

Next we have our out of print releases. I heard about some discontinued titles over on the Blu-ray forum but it was going onto the Eureka Entertainment website where I realised some of the ones that I was interested in was listed as 'discontinued'. Fortunately I was able to secure these from Deff which arrived yesterday, whilst one of them was from Terracotta that arrived today.

Here we have Kiyoshi Kurosawa's 2015 film Journey to the Shore (岸辺の旅), Naomi Kawase's 2007 film The Mourning Forest (殯の森), Naomi Kawase's 2015 film Sweet Bean (あん), and Sion Sono's 2015 film Tag (リアル鬼ごっこ). The first three are part of the Masters of Cinema range which includes a booklet, whilst Tag is part of Eureka Classics which is just a regular release. Tag was the one that I had ordered from Terracotta since they had stock.

Next we have two brand new releases from Anime Limited. First up is Ascendance of a Bookworm Seasons 1 & 2 collector's edition Blu-ray which was supposed to have been released back in March and has taken 11 months since the pre-order was made available. It's a nice package, but it is disappointing the subtitles wasn't updated to be consistent with the light novel translation and terminology. You can view more photos & specs on my blog.

The other is Burn the Witch collector's edition Blu-ray and its a spin-off to the BLEACH franchise so I'm interested to see how this one fares, especially since it's done by the Penguin Highway studio. The release does use the Viz Media disc but it does have both the theatrical version and three episode split that Crunchyroll used for streaming. You can view more photos & specs on my blog.
