Here’s what’s i got.

Both hyouka parts (bought on the same day), the box is alright but both blu rays were swimming sigh, they work, already tried.

Also a Iroha keychain.

ps: is them showing the haruhi movie trailer and gosick trailer on the disc some kind of torture? I want them..

I received the Land of the Lustrous steelbook yesterday in the mail, along with HATAKARI-MAN; both shipped from Rightstuf more than a month before their January 26 release dates. The LotL steelbook has a printed clear-slip over it that was shrink-wrapped over that, but fortunately the slip is in pristine condition, with no warping or curled-in corners due to the shrink-wrap, so all is good.

I figured I'd order this one right away, because even though I don't collect steelbooks, with it being one plus it being a very popular series, it most likely won't be in stock for very long. It does have a rather nice presentation for a steelbook, with it's reflective metallic finish and the clear slipcover. Here are a few photos including details of the LotL set; it's also very pretty on the inside and has great disc art, too:

So HMV of all things decided to go into administration (again). As a result I literally went into two of their branches these past two days to spend £80 worth of store discounts (£50 from PureHMV and £30 from Gift Card I received at Christmas). While I could spend it on anime (though I did buy one which I'll get to in a second), I decided to put it all towards the Japanese live-action films - because why not.

First things first, to make sure the PureHMV discount reached the minimum requirement I picked up Evangelion: 3.33 You Can (Not) Redo. I've already watched the film years ago so it was about time that I finally bought it. Interestingly this is the 50th anime pickup of 2018.

Now for the real goods. Here are the films I bought through the discount stuff:

  • Black Society Trilogy: Shinjuku Triad Society, Rainy Dog, Ley Lines from director Takashi Miike. Released via Arrow Video.
  • Dangan Runner from director Sabu. Released via Third Window Films.
  • Dead or Alive Trilogy: Dead or Alive, Dead or Alive 2: Birds, Dead or Alive: Final from director Takashi Miike. Released via Arrow Video.
  • Dreams from director Akira Kurosawa. Released via Criterion.
  • House from director Nobuhiko Obayashi. Released via Eureka Entertainment.
  • Street Mobster from director Kinji Fukasaku. Released via Arrow Video.
So yeah, 10 films total. Neat.

It was pure luck honestly. I redeemed them over the weekend as I reached 150,000 last week on Thursday. I was going to use the discount on Monday but it felt like I was forcing myself so I decided to wait. I was going to spend it next week but then I heard the news and was like 'oh snap will the PureHMV card still be valid if they are going down' and it turns out it is still valid, heck they're even adding points to the card which is pretty ironic.

I do feel for the folks who are trying to reach PureHMV to redeem the points. It is not right to have the website unavailable the moment the news showed up.

I’m hoping that if the website doesn’t go back up that stores will allow you to simply instantly use the points as equivalent to the discounts, otherwise I’ve lost around £20 which sucks.
 
So technically I got this on Thursday but it does come with a bit of a cool story that followed it. So recently I received a Starfire figureIMG_20181227_172002.jpg(Yes I do watch Teen Titans Go and yes I like both Raven and Starfire), anyway I post this on my Twitter saying something along the lines of how Raven (which I bought months ago) will never be lonely again. This seemed to catch to attention of Tara Strong (who voices Raven) who not only gave it a like, but followed me on Twitter.......AWESOME! (though it turns out she follows a ton of people, way more than I expected, still I appreciated the follow regardless)

I like Tara Strong. She also voices Twighlight Sparkle from My Little Pony (I'm not ashamed to admit I've watched the show in the past - I think the overall design of it is really cute and fun, and it helped to cheer me up when I was suffering from depression). She (Tara) is a talented voice artist!

Starfire edges it slightly over Raven for me though :)
