Yeah, Patlabor 2 is an astonishingly beautiful film, and the soundtrack is amazing.

Speaking of beautiful, the word "promontory" in the final episode of Welcome to the NHK reminded me of one what is one of my favourite songs.

All three Patlabor films have similar sections where you get to see scenes depicting life in Japan whilst you enjoy the soundtrack. Same with Ghost in the Shell.
