THE HEADBANGING!?

As a change from all the tantrum music, a tune everyone should recognise from their childhood.

Fiona Apple and this song - one of my strongest memories from the late 90's for some reason.

Lordy. I never bought Japanese Whispers as I really don't like most of the band's output in the years following Pornography, so that's the first time I've heard that song. A great tune consigned to obscurity as the B-side to the awful Let's Go To Bed.

Just bought the MP3 from Amazon. Thanks for posting the song :)

In the words of Bob himself: "I had a meeting with Chris Parry, and I said 'OK, what do you want for the next single? I've got Let's Go To Bed, which is crass and stupid, and I've got Just One Kiss, which is soft and dreamy... and, of course, he wanted Let's Go To Bed."

From the hefty booklet of the Join The Dots boxed set. There are a few more hidden gems there to be found there... but also things such as a flute and drum machine track recorded entirely by Bob and Steve Severin. A definite 'try before you buy' release, that one...

I always thought that the release of Let's Go To Bed was a conscious decision by Bob to steer the band away from the goth dirge that fans had come to expect. But Just One Kiss almost sounds as though it could have come from Faith or Pornography.

I used to have their music videos on VHS, and I always winced when it went from The Hanging Garden to Let's Go To Bed. Depressing Cure are my favourite.

"CAN I PLEASE GET A BIT OF KNOWLEDGE, CAN SOMEONE TELL ROTH THAT I DON'T LOVE COLLEGE?"

Not too sure but I think it's the beat from the MGMT song "Kids" I own the album but I've never even listened to it. lol.

Last Night:

Found this band the other day while listening to LastFM radio stations. This track is from their one and only album. Goth/post punk with female vocals.

<object width="320" height="265"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/sbSt1WbO0wU&hl=en_GB&fs=1&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/sbSt1WbO0wU&hl=en_GB&fs=1&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="320" height="265"></embed></object>

You say that as though actively trying to sell it to me... Whether that was intentional or not it worked. Again (I'm just glad you're not a car salesman). Only one album eh? Unfortunate as far as quantity of new material to listen to goes, on the other hand good for my wallet.

Because I keep seeing the 'Bayonetta' thread, the two similar sounding words connect in my mind and I get 'Emmaretta' on my brain.

Beware if buying the whole album; there are two sides to the Amesoeurs coin, and one of them is black metal with growled vocals. Four tracks are in that style, while the rest is more in line with what I posted above.

They also released an EP, I think.

Ah, thanks for the warning. I guess I'll pick and choose then (if that's a possibility).

Can't stop with the music today. I think it's finally having everything on my iPod. All's right with the world now.

You can listen to the samples at Amazon and buy individual tracks for 69p each. I don't usually do that, but in this case I'll make an exception.

And that's one of my favourite New Order tunes.
