It's kind of an odd idea in general really, everyone that subscribes through your link also becomes your competition since they'll have their own link and will want to get 20 sign ups. It's better for Viewster since they'd have more sign ups and less prizes to give out, I suppose.NormanicGrav said:I'm curious to see how many people have managed to reach 20 sign-ups for this whole Omakase service. It's pretty tough, I got 350 clicks but only 11 have signed up. I wouldn't call it a flaw but it's quite unfair for some. Heck I would have had a better chance if the links were working properly when it first started, I guess first come first serve is the key to these kinds of competitions.
They could probably do with having more information on the link too, rather than having people give out their e-mail (which people might hesitate to do, there's not even a box to say "don't send me spam" or a note to say they won't).
I don't think I'd be interested in random merchandise either. I can't imagine it really working in the long run, surely you'd lose people who get fed up with getting things they're not interested in and it'd be tough to replace them in an already niche interest.
I don't even see why they feel they need a gimmick to draw people in, they seemed to be doing okay by getting content that people want and I'm pretty sure plenty of people would be willing to sign up for ad-free and HD (where possible) content. I can't help feeling they could undermine their own good work by spending too much on something silly and then not being able to become a real competitor as they seemed to be moving towards.
Who knows though, maybe it'll turn out to be a great service above what everyone expected and it'll do really well for them.
