I'm liking this new overt sexiness in cover design. Just thinking about the kind of RPM Mary Whitehouse must be clocking in her grave gives me a warm feeling.

What with that and the Kids on the Slope cover mock up that has both logos on, perhaps MVM are just going to start using Sentai's cover art. It would certainly be an improvement.

"Bakuman Complete Serie"?
I wish they'd stop leaving French people in charge of the covers...

I have always wondered is it a literal translation or just a bad translation as it seems such an unusual title to me even in the realms of odd anime titles.
If you mean Kiddy Grade, there is no translated title; it has always been just Kiddy Grade, in English (and kidi gureido in katakana)

Except that it has a Sentai logo on, not an MVM one...
I've notice MVM using the US art for their initial listings on AoL a lot.

That cover can make me embassed to be a anime fan sometimes.

I agree with this sentiment...

That said, Drifters is basically 100% fanservice as far as I know, so for that it is fitting, but still kind of cringeworthy.

100% fanservice but nary a single female nipple gets shown at all...not really worth it if you ask me

For reference, the front and back cover images are the same as FUNimation's artbox for the season and the spine is the same.

I'm going to be very pedantic and say that I really don't like the first paragraph of the blurb on the back, seems more like something that should be one the series one boxset, not the sequel.

I approve wholeheartedly of this development. Balls to the blurb, it's not like I ever read it anyway.

It's an exact copy and paste of the one FUNimation used for their US set. I also don't like the "From the Studio that brought you Toradora and Okami-san and her Seven Companions" because y'know...this came first? Also, neither of those are out in the UK yet (although Okami-san is incoming).

I do like that MVM are releasing NTSC discs now though.

It isn't just NTSC though. It's progressive scan. Put it through compatible equipment and it gets decoded to proper smooth 24 fps playback, with zero interlacing and zero artefacting (It plays like a low-res Blu-ray). It looks gorgeous. As a rule, anime in NTSC rarely gets progressive encodes, it's usually just interlaced. If you try to play them as progressive, they either go to total juddervision like ADV discs, or you can get away with a couple of jerky scene transitions and a smidge of combing, as with Bandai.

So far I've only seen four anime titles with progressive encodes. Shana Season 2 Part 1, .hack//Quantum, Gyo: Tokyo Fish Attack, and Ristorante Paradiso. With most anime being sourced from HD masters, I hope we see more progressive encodes on NTSC DVD.

I really love that cover for Merry! It's so pretty. My love of pink means there is no possible way I could hate it. I'm looking forward to seeing it. Positive I've got it on preorder.

I really do like that front cover for Dream Eater Merry. Just looked it up on Wikipedia and I might be tempted to buy it now. Can anyone recommend it?
