And I'd guess that's because German and UK distributors know their markets and those markets are rather different. The Germans are clearly prepared to pay for quality (though the Japanese far more so) whereas the British and our American cousins are far more likely to buy any old crap as long as it's cheap. We seem to be doing a pretty good job of exporting this attitude though, so look out for the 300 forint store, coming soon to (decimate) a high street near you. ;)

Seems British and Hungarians have that in common, most Hungarians cut corners everywhere they can :)

ps: 300 forint store has been here for years, in mater of fact now we have 1 euro store and even before these we had 100 forint store :D I live in a small city with about 10k inhabitants, but even in this city there are 3 of those cheap stores...

Anime DVD market in Hungary is almost non existent (can't blame them, 95% of the community here only downloads anime), but there are a few nice examples, like the Devil May Cry complete box-set (this is the first one I saw to have DD5.1 English audio too besides Hungarian and Japanese audio), Fullmetal Panic! complete season 1 and 2 digibox editions and the Bleach season 1 and season 2 releases:

There is a 99p store in my city centre.

There isn't here, the 99p store we had closed down years ago. ~

At least Kaze stuff come in cardboard box or just a simple DVD case? If it comes in more than just a simple DVD case, then I will be ok with that price (especially that it wasn't cheap to get from the US either)
Mardock Scramble DVD was just a simple DVD case for the UK. But aren't we referring to R&V anyway which isn't being released by Kaze but MVM?

Huh, you learn something new every day! I imagine the people running 1 Euro stores are bit worried that they might have to go around with a pen adding a zero to the end of their prices soon...

There are in a lot of city centres, but how many independent retailers can afford city centre rates? Poundland isn't competition for New Look or Starbucks, it's not going to drive them out of business. Here in the sticks though where individuals can afford to rent shops, when Poundland (or a supermarket) comes to town you can kiss any locally owned businesses which are in direct competition with them goodbye. The Council might as well commission new road signs reading "Tesco Value [Town]". Not that I'm an anti-capitalist, the consumers are just as much to blame as the retailers for these circumstances coming about.

Yes! They're using the awesome coverart for FMA Brotherhood!

@Lawrence - Madman have it under the title of "The Squid Girl" as well. No idea why. I imagine as we're using their masters, that bit had to stay.

I'll be very surprised IF the final certificate is a "12" though - considering how I watched it and deemed it suitable for my 7 year old brother to watch. I'd say a PG for slapstick violence and mild sexual references (Yes Sanae can be bad at times, but I don't think that's 12 worthy).

As for Panty & Stockings "Artwork Subject To Change" as we've never seen that before...I guess that means MangaUK haven't submitted it to Gainax yet?

"Smash Hit" might be going a bit far with PanSto, though.

"The" Squid Girl is an interesting debate, I'm struggling to see a problem with it.

Making it sound like [a parody of] some kind of monster film is an excellent idea, imo.

Also, I'm fairly certain it is not implied that there is a race of Squid People, so you could argue that simply using "Squid Girl" is overly ambiguous. Either way, you could still say that she is "The" Squid Girl, since she is the only one we are concerned with in the show.

Essentially, I don't think people would have had a problem with it if they had not already become accustomed to the idea of the show being called "Squid Girl".

I assume it's a holdover from the Sentai rerelease, since it came out twice over in the US with a dub added. Maybe Manga are aiming at the (presumably tiny) pool of people who hadn't realised it had received a dub later on.

They release Princess Resurrection as a complete package with 26 episodes, but they split up Clannad and AF in to two pieces?! MADNESS!

Manga are using the reason for Clannad, that they're following the us release. That's not necessarily true considering the separate parts were sub only for Sentai.

Princess Resurrection will struggle to sell well in one part, imo, never mind two. Clannad would (maybe) have more of a chance. No idea what AF is off the top of my head, but maybe I'm being dense.

They aren't always allowed to release straight to box set - see FMA and K-on for example. If Sentai had partial sets out previously, even if they were in a different format, that was probably OK.
