Overseas UK Blu-Ray List / Australian Blu-ray List / USA Region B and Geolocked List

Someone posted about it on the Criterion forums back when Sentai first started geolocking their discs.



Although, for Sentai releases since 2015 setting your players country code to any country other than Japan (just to be safe I would recommend not selecting any Asian country) will allow the discs to play.

Here's a strange one, when purchasing an LG BD player a few years ago I tried the only Sentai release I owned which wouldn't play on my old Panasonic player, to my surprise no luck, had to alter the country cade from Germany, to US to get it work.

I believe Sentai went through a phase in 2014 where their Blu-rays would only work if the country code was set to the US or Canada, as I own three of them (Leviathan - the last defense -, Little Busters Refrain & The Ambition of Oda Nobuna).

Thankfully in 2015 they went back to just locking out Japan/Japanese players.

I play all my Blu-rays on a PS3.

Busy malone is Region locked to A, so you will either need a player that is Region A or a multi Region blu ray player.
Sentai don't Region lock there disks.
Ps3/4/5 and xbox will play Geolocked titles with no issues.
My friend in Australia has no issues with his players with Sentai nor does members from Europe who also have Region B players.
 
I noticed on the first page that "Farming Life In Another World" says Geolocked. Does that mean it'll play here in Australia?

When did Sentai stop region locking their disks?

It works fine on standard BD players, so it should work on your PS3 without issue, the main reason it states geolocked is because it's tricky to know for sure if it's that or region free, so we tend to air on the side of caution.
Officially they still region lock discs, licensing usually enforces they do but with the onset of geolock they found a way to stop reverse importation to Japan, I believe they started in 2015.

Strike Witches: The Movie - is confirmed region A locked according to a user over on the Blu-ray.com forums (which is why I imported my copy from Australia).

Strike Witches: 501st Joint Fighter Wing Take Off - I can't confirm as I don't own it, but the back cover states region A only, so I would have to assume it's A locked, unless someone else can confirm otherwise.

On the Blu-ray.com site, a person confirmed that the 2016 release of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya: Seasons 1 & 2 is also compatible with Region B players but when I contacted Crunchyroll, they said both this and the 2021 release is for Region A only.

It's marked as A only on the packaging, I can confirm that the 2016 release is region B compatible though. Unfortunately the movie is region locked.
