The News Thread (for news that does not need a thread)

Sentai and Acorn remind me of Funimation and Revelation. It’s a good idea in principle to bring things under one corporate umbrella so to speak, but if one spoke of the umbrella lacks the reach, the presence and the customer engagement, then it becomes a false economy.

Let's hope not! The Vantiva plant in Mexico that makes Sentai's discs, and most every US-released blu-ray, has poor quality control with too many scratched discs. So getting these from Austria or the other one or two facilities that generally make discs for the UK and Europe will be preferred.

I like Sentai and they can't control how that manufacturing facility operates so they aren't to blame, but it's one of the reasons I always buy the AL versions of anything Sentai releases to avoid the potential headaches. Sentai has replaced anything I've gotten that would not play so props to them for that.
That's really odd because I have a large collection of Sentai bluray sets and I've never had a problem with any of them.....!

It looks like Jun Maeda is on the way out because he has throat cancer and has chosen not to receive active therapy, I knew the poor guy had heart problems but what the heck? I really liked the anime series that were made from the Key games he made. Air, Kanon, both seasons of Clannad and more recently The Day I Became A God were really good series and I'm really sorry that we won't be getting much-if any more of his unique creations. I mean, damn it all anyway!

That is sad, he could write really amazing stuff. Hope his loved ones are holding up ok :(

I second that is very sad news indeed to hear of anyone, let alone someone so talented and who has given so much. I was wondering about the news of his relatively recent mobile gacha game, Heaven Burns Red, apparently having it's story completed soon...now it all makes sense😔.
