The News Thread (for news that does not need a thread)

Guess what folks. EVANGELION BD-BOX! YES.

Preparation on my part has begun for a quadruple dip for Evangelion. I've owned this series on VHS, the first DVD release by ADV and also the Platinum range DVD collection.

So a blu-ray purchase is a statistical certainty.

I do however have concerns over who will get this license. For the US market, I'm betting on Sentai, since they own the dub rights and getting the dub sorted out should therfore be a formality. But if a certain Mr Partridge (...in a pear tree...) can bag this I shall not complain either. Just not Funimation, who might be "given the opportunity to work closely with Studio Khara" once more!

I seriously hope that if anyone in the UK can, you can somehow get this instead of Manga :/ I'm utterly done with that company and lets be honest, anything they did with it would be disappointing. Sad thing is, I reckon Manga would be the ones to get it.

Now I'm confused. Does this announcement go in Anime Industry Discussion, or here? I posted it there anyway...

Siren Visual has Nodame Canatabile for 2015

I guess it's up to you. Technically this thread is for orphaned news without its own thread so if you're happy using your new one for overseas releases that's sufficient, but I don't think it's a big deal to mention it in both if you want.

Anyway, I have the R3 for s1 of Nodame Cantabile but if they go further I might be interested. Since most Siren licenses seem to appear in the US/UK eventually nowadays, perhaps some of the other English-speaking countries will follow their lead.

I doubt it will be Sentai. If I'm not mistaken they are still currently in a court case with the production committee over the live action rights to Evangelion that they had/have.

If you guys get Nodame Cantabile, my wallet will cry.

So the Harlock Blu-Ray will come with the international version of the film on Blu-Ray and the Japan version of the film along with special features.... on DVD only.

And Andrew successfully tears my attention away from Australia in the blink of an eye...

I would definitely be up for more Nodame Cantabile from a more local distributor :)

Hmm, perhaps we should start reporting Manga UK releases which aren't messed up in some way as news?

Manga haven't suffered a takeover from Kaze recently have they? I'm convinced they have been by the lack of communication, constant stream of ****** problematic releases and removal of extras from BDs.
I was considering blind buying the Bayonetta movie from them sometime, but I can't trust them to put out a decent release, nor do I want to support their current business model.
If I do pick it up it will an import - like 99% of my buys at this point.

Looks like the delays regarding 009 Re:Cyborg is due to the English dub taking some issues:

Allegedly - but then again, I delivered the dub in summer time (which did take ages as there were multiple requests from the licensor for retakes over the recording).

Nearly there...

That was pretty rude of me, let me just make it clear that if you give it a shot, we'd have an awesome release on our hands and I'd be on board day one no doubt. I just love the Eva franchise and I'm pretty overprotective of it for lack of better words. The wishes of one man won't over weigh all the wishes of everyone else so my passion for Eva equates to nothing in the grand scheme of things obviously. I just don't know how to envision a release that justify the series, especially after the long wait. I actually own the End of Eva laserdisc set, now that is a beautiful set.

It's one of my most anticipated releases.

If the new Cyborg 009 movie is a succes is there any chance for more Cyborg 009 such as the series from 1979?

I guess it's purely based on sales of the Japanese home video release and I don't have sales numbers for it. International sales aren't really put into consideration when it comes to animoo.
