High School of the Dead (Blu-ray/DVD - Collector's Edition)
315 min. - English/Japanese - November 4th - SRP: $149.98
Disc 1 - DVD (100 min) eps. 1-4; Disc 2 - DVD (125 min) eps. 5-9; Disc 3 - DVD (90 min) eps. 10-12 + OVA; Disc 4 - BD (225 min) eps. 1-9; Disc 5 - BD (90 min) eps. 10-12 + OVA
Special Features: Special Book (Illustrations/Short Novels); Bandana; Parking Sticker; 4 Postcards; OVA (Drifters of the Dead); Clean Opening Animation; Clean Closing Animation

Looks like the BD discs are getting re-authored. Original release had 1-8 on disc 1 and 9-12 on disc 2. I really hope if the discs are being redone they might possibly be A/B, rather than A locked.
One thing I'd rather they do is re-do the dub for the DotD OVA since it has extremely horrid sync issues (at least for the first few minutes since that's all I watched) which makes it look like they didn't even try to get perfect sync with the lip movements.

Why don't we go one step further and say they should re-dub the whole series and outsource the dub to another studio?
>Sentai Dubs

In all seriousness though, it's been a few years since I watched HOTD and whilst the I don't remember the dub cast itself being entirely terrible, the Americanized script was god awful.

Looks like Studio Canal will be bringing out their own Miyazaki Blu-ray Box this year.

See end of trailer.

World of Ghibli Trailer

Surely all the hardcore Ghibli fans will already have everything individually on Blu-Ray already?

If anything, I'd argue there was a greater need for a 'budget' Ghibli set - essentially something to convince those who've probably only bought one or two (or none at all) Ghibli movies in the past. You can imagine say, a six disc 'Ghibli greats' box set with Totoro, Spirited Away, Howl, Ponyo, Princess Mononoke and Nausicaa going for around £20 - £30 being a very attractive purchase for casuals over Xmas.

It's interesting that Studio Canal are able to bring out the Miyazaki collection (you would think that the Japanese would not allow these type of collections) but I wonder if they'll include Cagliostro or not since it's part of the Japanese Film-BOX release.

As for me, I'll be passing on the Miyazaki Collection because of the numbering on the spines and I already own some of them. If anything I want them to re-release Laputa and My Neighbour the Yamadas with the correct numbers (and also bringing Ocean Waves and Only Yesterday on Blu-ray if possible, I don't think Ocean Waves has a BD master yet which is a shame but fingers crossed they do that in Japan) so that I can actually get the entire Ghibli set without any problems.

I wonder if this is what Studio Canal are meaning : http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/20 ... vd-box-set

I have all the individual ones but I might get that depending on what they do with it ... I have a feeling it'll be pretty standard though, in which case I'll pass.

RE: Only Yesterday..I've asked them a few times about getting that out on BD over here but no luck :|

Any idea on when your guys (Anime Limited) Q4 schedules will go live? :) Trying to budget my pick ups for the year :p

SOON! :) Working on scheduling as I type!

Ha, that was me :3

By soon, I hope they mean within the month. I would like some news on their announcements from the May expo too but patience Danni ..

That box does look very nice. Cool that it includes the old Chage and Aska video. They showed that at the BFI's Ghibli season and it's brilliant.

The only series I'd rather have the dub of thrown into the trash and handed to another studio to do is clannad (I only had to watch one scene to hate what they'd done to it and how mismatched the VA's are to their characters).

The only reason why the DotD dub should be redone is because they didn't put any effort into making sure the dub synced up with the characters lip movements (it's extremely obvious at the start of the episode).

Thanks Andrew :)

From UKAnime's post on the AVCon 2014 Licenses:

"In terms of physical releases, Watamote will be released on October 1st, offering us a clue as to when we may see MVM Entertainment's UK release, with Kabukimonogatai and the first season of Valvrave the Liberator also arriving on the same date. We already know that MVM Entertainment have all-but sealed the deal on bringing Monogatari Second Season to the UK, but will we be hearing about a UK release of Valvrave in the near future to boot? All three of these Australian releases will be available on both DVD and Blu-Ray."

Gurren Lagann and Kill la Kill are on Netflix UK.

Anime Limited hinting at the anime section expanding even more.

Absolutely brilliant getting that up, guys! Complete surprise.
