The Gundam Thread

This is cool but...why would you announce it 2 days before it happened?

I assume your going if so please take videos of the event if you can and if you can ask him questions (assuming this isn't rude to ask) please ask him why is he focusing so much of his carrier on gundam lately (I'm sure there's a more polite way to ask that I'm just curious why a big name like him appears, watching on YouTube from my end at least, he seems to be focusing a lot on gundam)

I sadly have prior commitments.

I'm not built for a world where Gundam is suddenly legitimately popular in the UK. Would love to be there but the specifics of this have all been revealed too closer to the wire.

I still think £150 to get a signature is disgusting in this economy. I get it, high profile guest. But it throws me back to standing in line for the pop up and hearing Londoners talk about how after they'd sunk a ton on plamo, they were off for a chain of month long foreign holidays.

So decided after a 25 year wait this was a priority I wanted to be there for so I'm currently on the train. I have no idea what the line will look like nor even if I am amongst the first 30 I could drop the money they're asking but at least I'll be there, taking part and able to document it.

Excellent, hope you take videos and if you can hope you can ask my question

I'm in the queue

I encountered 2 ppl who queued up around 7am to get the TM Revolution singers autograph

One of them got his FAZZ kit signed. He and his friend was #22 and 23.

They spent over £600 on kits
Jeebus.

I couldn't get here any sooner due to cost of train tickets and being scared after the local train crash a fortnight ago.

My biggest complaint- it seems as they dealt with the ceremony stuff they left a bunch of us stood outside in the sun for ages before having an "Oh, right..." moment...

TM Revolution was gone by the time I got inside just after 2pm. It seems once he'd done the requisite 30 signatures they let him bounce. No staying to mingle with fans.

Ok, so with an hour train journey ahead of me, gathered thoughts.

I'm generally happy today but I think they could have planned it better. Doing a half day, announcing a special guest with 48 hours notice, revealing they only sign the first 30 £150 purchases, them gone within an hour and all whilst you leave the majority of fans roasting on the Camden pavement...what are we doing here, guys?

The store itself is impressively large (apparently they bought out the guy who had an independent anime store between the two Bandai ones) but despite the claims essentially 98% of the store is Gunpla, with a mod each for stationery, Tamashii Nations and Card Game. And those last two are trapped behind the till overflow, meaning you can't freely browse them when the store is busy. Further, despite all the advertising promising it I saw no Strict G clothing.

Please don't get me wrong. 12 months ago something like this seemed impossible and I'm largely happy to have it. There's just some problems they need to address to make it feel like a fan hub and not just a store out for your money.
