Stupid question but would there be negative effects to not covering others? Sounds like your bosses want human slaves I mean robots.

It helps to be able to discuss things here. I can't really talk to my folks about this stuff, or anything really. They're decent people, but we don't really talk about our emotions or issues...

my bosses smile like clowns but act like a pair of gendos shouting at an army of shinjis. since I don't take holidays my attendance at work is nearly perfect, there's no reason that they'd do something for someone not taking cover. I used to do lots of cover myself, I have changed shifts though because I didn't hear a line manager say I'm in on a Saturday. ONE Saturday, and they mess me about for a month after that, first the line manager i have now telling me what work he actually wants me to do, then my bosses saying I might be changing shifts again, then not telling me that they want to see what my line manager says, then my line manager not saying anything because he's already told me what he wants me to do before my bosses said anything. yup, they are clowns and when they clown it's hard to make time for anything

Dude, I laughed at the first line about the army of Shinji's and a pair of Gendos XD Yeah, a big part of the issue in work between managers and staff is communication, and it happens in almost every job. Certainly almost every job I've been in. Also I found in some places it was a case of too many chiefs and not enough indians...
