The General Conversation Area

I've not had any problems in the past, but this year things really are taking absolutely ages to arrive. I came home to a package from Amazon today which included Wind Waker HD, Space Dandy and another BD. Thing is that it was sent out first class on Saturday.
I had another Amazon package last week which was also first class yet came 2 days after the delivery date Amazon gave me.
It's not just limited to Amazon either - even things from Shopto are taking ages to arrive. My copy of Persona Q came the Monday after release, and Smash Bros Wii U took just over a week to get to me.

A few visits by Royal Mail? That's the first I have heard of that, I thought they just do one, thats the most I ever got lol
Anyway, we have had a new Postie for about a month, so I can totally buy your theory on him being a trainee. Sadly or luckily, I have a full day of Uni tomorrow, so I can wait an extra day.

Yeah, I live in quite a busy area so we seem to have a huge number of postmen here at this time of year. I'd rather they just had one round and came earlier in the day as I'm usually out and have to get them to redeliver anyway, doubling their work.

(I may get VIP treatment as all of the staff at the delivery office know me by sight for some reason.)

R, who orders too much stuff online

We get three visits from Royal Mail a day.

First one is between 7 and 8 in the morning, then we get another one around 11am and then another around 2pm.

We only get 2 visits from Royal Mail. Normal post and parcel post. So if your aren't expecting a big parcel then we'll only get 1 visit. Depending on who the postman is we can get post from anytime between 8am and 3pm.

We just get one - usually at 10.30. I know in the past sometimes they've gone through the area, forgotten something/left it in their truck and then come back a second time.

Sometimes I think the second/third posts are from other companies, ie. DPD/FedEx etc. that are now competing with Royal Mail.

Don't forget that Amazon UK have their own couriers for their own and 'fulfilled by amazon' deliveries. The last two I had came around 6pm while the one before it came on a Sunday if my memory is correct (I have an email saying it has been left with a neighbour which is dated 19/10/14).

Would you look at that, nearly everything I ordered the past week arrived lol. I am tempted to skip Uni aha.

I have had nothing but awful exprience from Amazon, one parcel was shoved down the letter box luckily the item was unhurt. I also got Parcel at 7.30 pm! Like what the hell time is that, I just use third party sellers or Amazon lockers now.

I get most of my stuff delivered to work as I'm never in to get it at home - although people probably think I'm a bit weird having umpteen jiffy bags of DVDs turning up every week.

We get one around lunch time with the odd courier around 10.

I've received Steins Gate and Is This A Zombie? and have yet to receive The Garden Of Words. Ordered some stuff from ELF so we'll seeing as it was dispatched from the Warehouse yesterday.

I'm guessing that evening deliveries on working days is to avoid the possibility of the recipient being out at work. Unless it is 'fulfilled by Amazon', third party seller orders are likely to be delivered by Royal Mail.

Where I stay it's just one visit, except for couriers later of course. Only a little village though. Although, today I signed for a letter then a little packet with my CD in it showed up later in the day. My uncle (well, dad's best friend but you know) does the post for us and usually hands everything to me and says hello.

Could well have been he just came back with it later. It arrived a day earlier than the estimated time and from Japan too! So I was pleased about that.

Took myself to dental hospital this morning, pain has become too unbearable. Got to go back at 1.30pm as I'm a walk in and hope I'm seen before closing. Want these bastards out!

My works Christmas Do went AWFUL back on Friday.

I really don't want to show my face in work tomorrow (I've been off since Monday) and I'm getting really paranoid about it :(

I am trying to stay positive that it's just two days in work but my appraisal is Monday so not enthused but then hey, it's a 3pm finish Christmas Eve and then I'm off until Monday! Bleeeeeeurgh.

I had a first yesterday, I had a sick-day (although I didn't do anything that exciting other than stay in bed trying to avoid coughing up stuff)

I hope you feel better soon.

I think somethings going around as my throat and nose have felt poo since yesterday. I just hope I'm not sick at Xmas.

Today is bleh. People keep talking to me about the Christmas Do and I don't want to hear about it anymore. I'm mad about what I still heard that night and upset that it's ruining my rep here.

I am happy that my stats are 100% and the best in the team (it's only my third month here) and that my Secret Santa likes her gift :D

How are people?

Apart from a slightly sore back (put down to sleeping on Tuesday) I'm pretty much back to 80%. Still got a bit of a cold (blocked nose), but nothing a good night's rest can't solve.
1 day left at work for me until I break up for the year, sadly it's in a meeting in Aldershot, where I'm hoping will finish nice and early as I've been told not to bother coming back to work afterwards (mid-day shutdown).

10 hr shift... My legs are paste and my mind is dulled to it's core. I am officially calling up my agnostic rights and not celebrating Christmas or Xmas next year. It has become too much of a balls-ache to deal with and not only does the fun get sucked out of it around me, the whole idealism of "get a gift for someone you like" is dominated by wish-lists that command you to get certain things... Seriously, why bother trying? You're supposed to know what interests those near-and-dear have and guess-timate what they might like as a surprise. Not be told to get something to kill the joy or feel like you need to return an item you bought to fit "the script." Especially if that wish-list is made 10 days before the day come!!

Yep... it's not been a "bad" day, but I just feel like venting a bit.

Couldn't agree more Chaz, the only time I feel more like telling relatives (over the age of about 12) to f*ck off than when they ask for a specific gift for Christmas is when they compliment me and I know it's out of pity. This is the time of year for both of those things happening. :thumb:

I have a real love/hate relationship with this season. Part of me loves the whole winter festival of drinking and merriment and new beginnings and all that jazz, but if I get up and it's a mild, damp morning like most of the other days in this godawful country rather than crisp and cold (as it no doubt will be this year) it somewhat kills the mood. That and it always seems like the biggest yearly reminder the people I'm tied to are still the ones I share genes with rather than ones of my own choosing.

I got my first Christmas card today. It was from my MP. That sort of makes me want to become a hanging decoration myself.

Not really. Like Chaz says it just seems to have morphed from being a thoughtful process by which you considered what the people you know would like (because, y'know, you know them) and actually surprised them to one where they tell you / ask you what to buy and then buy it and pointlessly wrap it up as though that somehow made it surprising. Or failing that give each other shampoo and beer from the supermarket seasonal aisle.
