The General Conversation Area

We tend to make a wish list of things we'd like, which is extremely handy for grandparents and such, although I still tend to get a dressing gown every year....

The majority of the items I buy people are based of what I think the person will like rather than what they've asked for, although, some of them end up being rather lame 'hampers' of their favourite food and drinks...and always think to myself 'Hmmm, perhaps next year I'll just buy them something they want instead' lol

Yeah I love December cause of the Markets and Christmas but we are like on week 3 of rain now. Not necessarily all day or even for a bit but yeah, rain every day lol.

I'm sick. Not full blown though and I hope I get no worse. Only a bad nose when I sneeze although it feels weird all the time. My throat feels like it's getting ready to be sore and have a bad cough so I'll see.

What are people up to this weekend?

Tonight I'm having the Xmas Menu at Pizza Express followed by the Comedy Store for a friends Birthday then tomorrow I'm having the Xmas Menu at Jamie's Italian in the afternoon. Sat night and all of Sunday will be lazy :)

Found out that I have got a new job today. It starts early January and it at the moment it is a two month contract.

Hope you get better soon Danielle.

Get well soon, Danielle. Sorry to sound smug, but it's ACTually the 1st winter I haven't had a cold in so far... Probably because it feels like winter has been late as far as I recognize it weather-wise. Either that, or I'm due a break from it. Hozzah!
But to repeat a point, hope you beat the cold soon.

And congrats, mangaman!

Not really. Like Chaz says it just seems to have morphed from being a thoughtful process by which you considered what the people you know would like (because, y'know, you know them) and actually surprised them to one where they tell you / ask you what to buy and then buy it and pointlessly wrap it up as though that somehow made it surprising. Or failing that give each other shampoo and beer from the supermarket seasonal aisle.

You're a classic romantic ayase. I'm going to create a poetry thread so us poetic souls on AUKN can share poorly written poetry (you have no idea just how bad my poetry can be! And yes they do sometimes include brackets). Please contribute!

Wahoo, congrats on the job Mangaman, I hope it gets extended for you :)

Waaaaah, by the 4th and final act at the comedy store, the cold officially won. Woke up yesterday feeling poop and today no different. I'm taking really good care of myself, sleeping and resting so I'm hoping this helps and I get well/a lot better by Christmas. Sort of grateful I've got sick on the weekend as ill and work does not work well; my body is too busy keeping me moving instead of making me better. Just hope the next 3 days at work doesn't take it out of me.

I hope no one else gets sick so near to Christmas and thanks for the get well soon wishes!

Nice weekend everyone?

Thanks everyone. As for the job itself, the contract says Accounts Assistant but at the interview I was told I would be dealing with posting customer receipts to their accounts, filling in direct debit forms and dealing with queries. I was also told someone was on a secondment, so it I guess it depends on what their plans are.

I sometimes have a difficult time determining when you're being serious and when you're taking the piss, Vash. Which is something I actually admire, because it's a confusion I often seem to cause others but rarely find myself on the recieving end of.

I did try to write a poem just for the craic, but it ended up sounding like a Cure song someone had run through one of those sites that translates stuff to a foreign language then back again. Maybe I'll post it when I'm drunk at Christmas.

Sorry, yeah I did worry that post could be read like I was being sarcastic or something. But I was being totally serious. You are a romantic at heart I feel. Great, I hope you do share a poem! Doesn't matter how bad it is, have you seen my poems in the Chilly thread? haha. That thing you wrote a while ago about conditional lovers being condemned to the lowest realm of hell and stuff, was one of my favourite things I've ever read.

Christmas Eve Eve! Anyone excited?

Guys, opinion, pondering applying for another job haha. Would like 4 months at my current place look bad on a CV? lol. Also, now the worst has happened to me and opinions and treatment will stay this way for a while, should I just man up here as it's better the devil you know or should I try and brave a new horizon even though the same could happen again?

Maybe I should try and wait for 6-12 months to pass first? Eugh duno :( =/

Is it just me who thinks the reaction around that movie which North Korea doesn't like is a publicity stunt?

Still feel a bit crap, managed 30 minutes in the gym before calling it a night, pretty much no energy

On the mend. Taste buds are almost back.

Regarding The Interview, I guess they had to stop the cinematic release what with the threats and as stated, if they did a film about killing the queen or Obama, then we would all be in uproar. I think they should release straight to DVD.

Good to hear you are getting better. As for the film 'The Interview' Sony has had a change of heart and has decided to have a limited cinematic release,

Ha "changed their minds". Sounds like Kite could be right with publicity as those limited showings will sell out for sure. Kudos sony. If you hacked yourselves though, you're minging.

I seem to be on the verge of losing my voice. Not been feeling so great the past few days so something was going to give soon. Probably a blessing to some not having to hear my voice, it is not exaggerating to say I sound like a little 5 year old.

I used to have someone who would follow me around in school trying to get me to speak since they were obsessed with my voice. He would jump out at me and say 'Hi' so I'd say it automatically. Then for the rest of the day he'd be like 'You spoke to me today! Your voice is sooo cute!!'
No one takes me seriously with it. It's hard meeting new people as well because as soon as I talk I get this face  The older I get the more unbelievable it gets, strangers comment on it and everything! I physically can't lower it either, to me it is low but I've heard myself recorded and it's so embarrassing

I think I'll be able to manage without it tomorrow anyway! Hope everyone has a good day <3

Whats to say those threats were actually coming from North Korea and not from a PR firm?

The hack was probably real, but probably carried out from someone within America, which gave them an idea to blame it on Kim-Ju-Ate-All-The-Pies.

I have a coldsore on my septum. The last of my being run down but its weird as hell being on my nose and not my lip! Waaah :(

Did everyone have a nice xmas and boxing day?

Trying to take off glitter nail varnish atm. Got cotton wool full of remover on my nails wrapped in foil. Lol.

my mom and dad is getting a husky puppy soon -_-

this is going to be a pain because huskys are loud and energetic
but at the same time its nice to have a new pet

they will need a lot of excises which means I might need to take it with me on my rounds to kill the energy and let me tell you my rounds go on forever say 3 to 4 hours so that will do something.

not only that but we have a staff so introducing them to each other will be tough

its my moms dog and we are going to get it in a week or two.

well this is going to be fun

Which would better align with your preferences, a coldsore in such a place or coleslaw in such a place?
