The General Conversation Area

Hello guys.

Slight good news towards my part-time job that they might be able to increase my pay in the upcoming months, hopefully it comes true.

I scraped my thigh while closing my car door, doesn't hurt but I do feel like a bit of a idiot for doing it.

New K-ON episode was decent last night.

Morning Reevo. Unlucky about the car door. I've done it before but it's worse when you hit yourself in teh head with it (i've done that a few too many times). Oh, and congrats on the wage increase. More money coming in is always good. =D

Never seen K-ON. It's in my list of "to watch" anime though. Was planning on starting on FMA Brotherhood last night but got forced to bed by a Cluster Headache at 8.30. I wish I could go back to the ways things were... TT_TT

I've enjoyed K-ON, I remember at the London convention when I asked Chaos what was licensed, he gave me a list and I said "Holy crap did Manga get K-ON?" then Chaos sadly answered "No No, its the K-20 movie", doh.

My only gripe I have with it is that unlike my favourite other music anime (BECK, NANA) it doesn't seem to have any band references, I think the only one mentioned was Jeff Beck back in first episode of the first season, its a of a silly gripe but it keeps me from apperiating it fully.

I have NANA in my backlog of anime. Been meaning to watch it for ages. As for BECK, I don't really know too much about it so haven't had an interest. I have seen Detroit Metal City though. That was funny as hell. Not a long series mind with the 12 episodes only being 10mins long.

There is a UK release of K-ON isn't there? I thought there was but then again, I haven't looked into it.

Detroit Metal City I haven't seen yet, so i'll give that try once I've finished Da Capo II.

I think its only been licensed for the US at the moment, nothing for the UK but might be in the future.

Morning Chaos! Guess it was a good gig then? :D
It was a great gig, even though I'm not the biggest fan of pop music, I really liked her live. I'm buying her album to compare her studio performance with the live one. Although fvrom the songs I knew it seemed pretty much the same as it usually is the case with pop groups.

I don't know too much of her stuff but I like what I know. Was there anyone I'd know supporting?
Some Delta Maid chick. I didn't like that, but in honesty the only person who plays that kind of blues that I like is Eric Clapton and unfortunately, she doesn't have Clapton's guitar skills.

Tachi's enjoying his holidays. Was txting me before he got on his flight. He's on an all inclusive holiday and the first night they went out to a Chinese restaurant. =P
LOL =) weren't they going to Egypt? Chinese food in Egypt? =)

Hope it turns out as you expect. more money is always welcome.

On K-On, Nana and Beck. I ahve them on my to-watch list for a while, I should get them soon, before it becomes impossible / too expensive to buy them.

I've read the first volume of Detroit Metal City and it was amazingly hilarious. It's another one I need to get a hold of sometime soon.

hello all

k-on continues with it's "opening is no where near as good as it's Ending" theme ^^

i just wish they'd hurry up and make a Kira Kira anime

Glad you had a good night choas. Always good to get into a new artist. Opens the doors to a load more tunes you like to listen too. Can't say I'm a huge fan of much pop. Sure, I listen to it on the radio but, unless it's a compilation CD, I can't recall ever buying one...

WAIT! I did get Eiffel 65 back when, but I guess that's more dancey. :p

Has anyone been watching FMA: Brotherhood who's seen the origanl series? I 've asked this before but no one replied. ¬_¬

Edit: Afternoon Ryo. *greets*

Hey Ryo, morning

Voddas - I'm in episode 3 so far and these 3 eps are very different from the original series. Loving it so far.

I still have my 'Eiffel 65 - Blue Da Ba Dee' single in my house, don't know why I still have that.

Don't really like the mainstream pop music at all but Janelle Monae has revived my faith in good R'n'b and Jazz music.

Yeah, I've seen both. What you want to know?
Just wondered if it was an improvement on the first series? I real enjoyed it and I've been building up to watching Brotherhood.

EDIT: Hi Mono! How are you today? ^__^

@Reevo: I still have my single too too and I also don't know why. lol

It's very different. It's pacing is sometimes off and its music can be intensely grating but its probably still worth watching. One of my biggest complaints is how the majority of the time the story feels empty. Fullmetal Alchemist, in this incarnation at least, doesn't always tell a properly coherent tale so it needs emotion to get the audience going, and it sometimes sorely lacks it - something the first series never missed a beat with.

I know all this sounds negative, but I do care a lot about it so its just disappointing in some respects. It is absolutely worth watching though, especially if you enjoyed the first series. (The first episode isn't canon, its more of a re-introduction to everyone.)

Ahhh... that was a tasty Club Sub! *licks lips* :p

Cheers for that Jayme mate. I knew it would be better to ask someone who'd seen the original series becasue I know I'll be comparing it when I watch it too. I'm sure I'm going to enjoy it as I can be easily pleased. Now that I know what to expect it hasn't changed my opinion. Hopefully I'll be able to start it tonight as long as my health stays good. ^_^

@Mono: Glad your doing well little miss. What did you order from UP1?

Hello every-nyan! How are you? Fine, thank you... :p

Urgh, I'm gonna hate tonight's shift at work. Not my usual thing, but it's not too long. However, I feel tierd today for some reason... got enough sleep, but not feeling very fresh.

I thought Brotherhood was better than the original series tbh. Some of the storyline, especially nearing the end, was more out-of-this-world and just seemed to me a lot more interesting, especially compared to the 1st series ending. Plus the theory behind the Homunculi and other changes based on them seemed more solid.
As for the music and such, I didn't see anything wrong with it. It has been a while since I've seen the original, so it's harder for me to compare them. The original series probably had better flow of OP and Ending themes, but unsure of in-battle/scene specific audio.
I agree though: Dont miss out! Both are fantastic in their own stories and the rest. Totally worth them both.

Speaking of music, I have Effle 65 on my "Back to the 90's" album... classic stuff. XD
