The General Conversation Area

Not much really, but I have a CS guy from Oz staying at my place tonight, so we were planning to go to a gig with other CS people tomorrow, then Thames Festival on the weekend.

Sounds good to me,

Just an hour to go till hometime :D and the weekend begins!
think things have gone well...being ill last week aswell as there being a bank holiday (don't get paid for them :( just paid for what i work) means that this weeks pay was very low compared to usual. but it was enough to pay off the £100 to a savings account, the £35 board and add to the amount i had before leaving me with enough to go out and then do everything tomorrow....buying trousers and other things.

Edit: bye all. have a great weekend :D (grabs back and hoody and runs away with a big grin)

I'm here... but only in mind. My body is being raped at work at this moment in time...

What a day.... :(

I coult be much worst:

Your mind could be the one recieving the brutal rape, meaning recovery would be next to impossible, while your body was left here unattended instead. Which is bad (or good, depending on which team you bat for) since I'm sure Skikes is on the prowl!

Hah, anyways, this video should make you smile:

I can't see it because of work place restrictions....

*looks at watch* I should really stay but you know what... I can't be arsed.

I'm off home! Wooo!! XD

I'm not half as cool as you think.
I've lost my temper with Unellmay, Aion and CG, but I usually just write an angry post and don't send it. or start bitching about it with the other mods / admins.

On the other hand, I have a long memory for offences and I'm not a forgiving person. I still carry resentment from posts from two years ago. I know it's unhealthy, but its something I do.

I've been accused of being too optimistic a few times, but emotionless wined up? I don't think so. I'm just good pretending I am maybe :p

Let me tell you a story. I used to participate in a community back in Brazil where most people were very opinionated and many of them were really stuborn. There was this guy who was adamant that Linux and open source would take over the world and all developers like me, who specialized in proprietary techs, should burn and die.

I've had lengthy discussions with him, some very flamed ones. The guy moved to the UK before me and when I moved, he hosted me for a month at this place. We became best friends vevy quickly.

And that's what an internet forum is all about. Discussing something love/hate. If you know how to respect other people's opinions, even when they differ drastically from you, you might get something in return. There's never been much respect for people's opinion on the internet, so I wisened up and don't really care much most of the time, but try to address me unrespectfully IRL ;)

Edit - it's a bit dead in here today....

Even this post though, is so level headed. You don't show strong feelings one way or the other, your very analytical, alway seeing 2 sides of an argument.
I get the respecting other peoples opinions but its fun to flame a little. I enjoy it, its not something i take seriously. I could never imagine being the kind of person to hold a grudge over a post 2 years though, which probs why you dont do it though.
I can never even remember who's been nasty to me to hold a grudge online lol

This is getting a little deep... time for fluffy chit chat.

Did you live in Brazil? You seem to move around alot. What is it you actually do?

p.s. im curious what this post ur holding a grudge over is lol

(edit) why is unellmay banned...? i really never got what he was doing wrong. he entertained me.

One sample is the comment CG left for my Tezuka article. After that, I've decided to up my game a bit before I venture writing again.

I'm brazilian :p

lived everywhere around there, then moved to Belfast as my company transfered me, then I changed jobs and lived a few weeks in Cambridge with friends, then I moved to London where I settled down for the time being. In the future, I wanted to live in France or maybe italy.

I'm a programmer specialized in equities trading.

For breaking the site rules a third time. I was never going to ban him just because he was unpopular however last night a line was crossed (post has been deleted).

I don't really want to go into it in public too much due to his heavily disliked status and what happened in terms of drama the last time someone unpopular was banned. He may have acted up a fair bit but I'll still be walloping any threads set up to celebrate his absence :s

São Paulo - a behemoth with 18 million people, so London few like a cozy little town... ;)
Try moving somewhere they speak a different language. When I just got here, I immediately became someone rude, as I had to think before saying excuse instead of 'com licença' or thank you instead of 'obrigado'. Now, when I go to Brazil I end up saying ta to people on the street. Which is really odd :p

I'm stil insecure with my level of english. I'm no illeterate, but I'm stil far from a decent writer. I'll fix this soon(ish), I hope.

I'd rather prefer France to be honest. Exactly because France is a culture that is a lot distant from my own than Italy or Portugal.

Also, although we share the language, Brazil and Portugal's portuguese are a lot more distant than British and American english. Harmless words in Brazil are offensive in Portugal and vice-versa.

"Entrar na bicha pra pegar o cacetinho" in Portugal's portuguese means to get in line to buy bread and in Brazilian portuguese it means to have a homosexual relationship. And nope, I'm not making this up.

Morning all.

Why is it so cold in the shade today? I only put a T-shirt on because it looked so sunny out, only to find that indoors out of the sun it's bloody freezing. I usually take a jumper in case the weather turns, but it looked so nice today I didn't bother...

Same here. Yesterday seemed even colder than today though.

tea is great, although I miss Mate, which is a brazilian tea. I have to import it when I'm craving for it, but that's ok - It's not a constant thing.
It never really rains in Brazil. We have tropical storms instead. rain here seems like a drizzle to me.

Coffee on the other hand is a big cultural shock. In here it's too much watered down for my taste.

I'd love to live somewhere it hardly ever rained. I've been in Greece during rainstorms, but there it's nice because it's refreshing due to the heat.

Coffee... Depends who's making it surely? :p

Well, i've had one hell of a night, can't talk much tho, hate writing on the ps3. enrolled to college (knew my gf was useful for something, got her to call me periodically before 10 to wake me up...what time did she start?............6.....no comment)

atleast i'm not hung over. i'm just knackered lol. off to town to book my holiday with the lads,

Ta'raa all
