Shifting this from another thread because I'm not sure our bromance counts as full-on romance. 😛

@Neil.T Yep - mostly on Netflix, but I've also been using another streaming service (Viki) for ones Netflix doesn't have! 😄
K-drama on Netflix? I had no idea they were exploring that niche. Nice. Hadn't heard of the other service before you mentioned it.

Particular favourites so far? I think the only Korean productions I've seen are the Train to Busan film trilogy and The Ring Virus, which is basically the Korean version of J-horror hit Ring.

Mario games are always a good way to spend your time! I don't think I've ever managed to 100% any though 🤔 Have you had a fav so far?
Favourites, eh...? There's so many!

Super Mario Odyssey is a huge favourite of mine; I've 100%'d it twice. And the newest one, Super Mario Bros. Wonder is amazing as well. I've played that through twice also.

What Mario games have you played yourself, out of curiosity?

Geez guys get a room :p

On an unrelated note waste collection services are getting really expensive I had to pay almost £100 to get my two-seater sofa (which has paint stains so can't be donated to charity) and an old suitcase with a broken handle removed from my home :( DGMW the workmen were pleasant and I'm glad it's done but even Brighton Council are charging £60 as their minimum fee now it's a bit much and I'm not even sure if they do concessions for people on low incomes/with disabilities anymore. I understand the cost of a lot of things is going up but it's an essential service people can't just keep everything forever (don't get me started on planned obsolescence tho) and items need to be disposed of in a safe and environmentally friendly manner. If you're wondering I plan on taking far better care of the replacement sofa which is a secondhand one from the British Heart Foundation furniture shop, gonna get some nice soft fabric and make a giant washable throw for it to keep it clean (in my defence the previous one was secondhand too and the cushions just had higgledy-piggledy foam inside so it was really hard to take the covers off and wash them). I also took three pairs of shoes to a shoe repair shop today and they said they can't resole any of them! I feel pretty sad about that cuz I love those shoes and I don't wanna just throw things away instead of repairing them all the time :(

Moving this here to keep AL thread on topic

What did they Do ?

I think @Shadow Cat might have meant that they're surprised a UK based anime-specific physical paper magazine is still going in the current era of digital media? But presumably if the release date has been updated then the magazine is online too? TBH I'm quite confused myself now too 😅 🤣

Partly surprised a physical magazine is still going considering how easy it is to get info online. Though the brand is well known and might still bring people into the fandom by magazine exposure

Offtopic - How I got into Anime was buying a few movies from HMV, going into WHSmiths and seeing Neo Magazine, what introduced me to Neo Mag Forums and pretty much where I am now. So thats one good thing about them.

Back on topic. The magazine was advertising a shop that (at the time) was known to sell bootleg merch. They upset a pretty good chunk of the fandom by ignoring concerns from readers rather than changing advertisement to more legit stores

Honestly surprised they survived after that

Nervous about tomorrow as I'm having an operation on a hernia!

However got 6 weeks off for the recovery and lots of stuff in the backlog pile to keep me busy! Speaking with a colleague that had one it was supposed to be 8 weeks after the pre-op appointment, but turned into 8 months! That's another reason why I stopped watching seasonal stuff, because I thought I'd get the time to catch back up. Now I'll have to check scores and just cherry pick the best ones out of my PTW list for the last 2 seasons before getting to the current one.

Yikes, good luck. Hopefully it will all be straightforward.

Bah! Such trivial surgery ;) - I went through a Whipple Procedure for pancreatic cancer AND an umbilical hernia almost the size of a tennis ball together in one surgery, 5 months of chemotheraphy, and two total knee replacement surgeries - and I'm still here pestering the heck out of you all, lol. You'll be fine. Enjoy your time off to binge watch some good anime! 🥳

Blumin' Yanks always have to go bigger! 😜

In the recovery ward now. Still feeling a bit woozy and in pain despite apparently having a cocktail of drugs!

I think something nice and chill like Friren will be first off the list.

Haha, Blumin' Yank indeed! 😁

Glad to see your still with us after surgery, that's what matters most! Pain is just a side story, like an OVA, to make you laugh.... 😜

Ah, nice pick, Frieren - I need to continue watching and complete that series. My mother and I watched the first three episodes when it first aired, but she couldn't handle the sad stuff because my father had just recently passed, so we put that series on the back burner. I'm really wanting to finish it myself, as I was getting vibes of epic Violet-Evergarden-level story-telling in just those first three episodes - not to mention that Evan Call did both series OST.

What's the name of the drug cocktail? Asking for a friend :p

Wishing you a swift recovery (definitely not because I don't want you to have lots of time to watch anime!) and hope the pain starts improving soon.

Got a new alarm clock, the one I've had since 16 (26 years ago) has finally given up.

They don't make 'em like they used to, but what I do like as an alarm clock feature nowadays are the projector clocks that shine the time up on the ceiling, so when I'm laying there in bed or wake up in the middle of the night I just have to glance up to see the time, instead of rolling over and tilting the clock on the nightstand toward me to see the time. Now if they only would make a projector alarm clock with voice control to set and turn off the alarm, or tell it to sleep for another 10 minutes - I'd be all over that one, lol.

Netflix has really branched out into Kdramas in the past few years - there had been a few on there for a number of years but since Squid Game was such a big hit for them, there seems to be new Netflix original Kdramas going on there every week!

Most of the ones I watch are more like romantic comedies, so they mightn't give the same experience as those movies - but some of my favs have been Backstreet Rookie, Extraordinary Attorney Woo and Strong Girl Bong-soon 😅

What Mario games have you played yourself, out of curiosity?
I've played most (maybe all...?) of the main games - I've "finished" most of them, but I've never actually managed a 100%! 😅 Outside of that, I've played a few Paper Marios, some Mario & Luigis and other random spinoffs (Tennis/Golf/Kart/etc) but I've never totally completed any of them!

I've played a few Paper Marios, some Mario & Luigis
Oh wow, cool. I've learned that I'm not really cut out for RPGs. 😅

I played the Nintendo 64 Paper Mario but kinda lost my way with it towards the end, and I started Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga but didn't get all that far before throwing in the towel. I know where I am with platform games, but I'm all at sea with RPGs.

I've got enough platformers in my games stockpile to be getting on with anyway, so I'll stick to what I know. 😛

got 6 weeks off for the recovery
Belatedly wishing you a swift recovery, man. I hope your time off work is proving to be a good tonic at least!

I just decided to unsub from the anime figures sub Reddit they can't take a joke.all I said was this.

Excuse me miss but your very private girly bits are showing. I started getting down votes just for that the figure was laying down exposing her under wear but they got offended by that.they seem to take figure collecting way to seriously.they really need to touch some gras
