The football thread!

The season finally kicks-off and United start off from where they finished last season AWFUL! Looking forward to the Liverpool match tomorrow we need a win badly considering we signed half of Southampton's best players.
 
threw 2 points away against a mediocre Sunderland team!, hey Kurz Weber, Wisdom is too slow, got down for their equalizer, he seems to legged, can't wait for Gamboa to play!

Yeah it was a real surprise after they came into the season with a weaker squad than last year and their best player not fit. :lol: Don't know why anyone expected any different just because LVG is now in charge.

Villa somehow beat Stoke, who have become a massive bogey side for us over the last couple of years, so I'm happy enough for now!
 
Problem for United and their fans now is that when they play poor they now lose. Arsenal, City and Liverpool all played pretty poor but yet all won and City even won a clean sheet.

Just hope WBA not involved in a relegation battle again, last season was just awful, 4 home wins all season! not worth the season ticket price at all. Promising start, promising signings, COYB! Boing Boing!!

I actually really like that angle of analysis! Sums up the level they have dropped to very succinctly.
 
Indeed, I fear they may start to become lost like Leeds, Blackburn, Forest etc, Circle of Life I guess haha!!
Also crazy how WBA got promoted in back in 2001 with Man City lol we even beat then 4-0 I believe ahha.

How times have changed, In 2008 Middlesbrough beat Man City 8-1 an now 6 years later MCFC are BPL champions and Middlesbrough are fighting for survival in the Championship. Oh an ye Andre Wisdom is a shocking footballer sorry about that haha.

I know I think even SAF couldn't have won that game when you have a back three of Jones, Smalling and Blackett. I don't think they will do as badly as last year but even with the signings they have made the latest won being Rojo I can't see them finishing in the Top 4.

haha!! I remember that, was nuts, yeah getting out of the championship is very tricky stuff nowadays. So so glad we didn't go down.

No worries about Wisdom, I believe they loaned him with the intention as a squad player, Gamboa won't be fit until after the international break so Widsom best be decent until then.

Oh btw I was right infront of where Kolo passed the ball to Anichebe ;) Mignolet though top keeper, that save he did from Macca's corner oof was already of my seat ready to celebrate haha!!

Haha you must of loved that. Mixed feelings about the Hawthorns 1st trip there under King Kenny we won 2-0 i think Pen an Andy Carroll scored. Then we had the opening day 3-0 battering an then followed the horrendous mistake by Toure. But your fans are decent, I had a mate on Xbox who was a WBA fan an he said meet me at this pub (forgot the name) an you won't say anything so I gave it the biggen telling the coach to stop there then we met the bottles/glasses of hundreds of WBA fans haha.

Tbf the Smethwick end (where the away fan are) is where all the atmosphere is. And getting tickets there is a pain.

Some of our fans are total tosspots though, only started to follow the Albion properly when they got promoted. Constantly moan about this and that, for example complain that we don't sign players for big money. WBA buy a striker for £10m then they same folks complain it's too much. Like I give up man. Guess you and most other teams must have these idiots too.

Yeah don't worry mate there's plenty of them in Anfield aswell. When we signed Borini he scored in his first game all's I heard was 'quality striker' and 'buy of the season'. Week later it was 'get him out' and 'couldn't finish his dinner'.
 
Incredibly irritating ain't it? I ended up leaving most of the west brom groups/pages on Facebook was getting really ridiculous even when we won one positive post was countered by 3 negative posts. :roll: Fortunately, all the decent Albion fans are on my friends list so I only bump into these idiots when it's on the official WBA fb page.

Anyway, really ******** playing Southampton after seeing them play well against you guys, luckily the look awful at the back now Lovren has gone, so that's a plus.

Ye I think it will be a good game with lots of goals it shall be an interesting watch much like Liverpool's next game against the champions on Monday night football.

I'd say most clubs have their share of idiots who think their club deserves to be in the premier league/champion's league or whatever (look at how some Man Utd fans have reacted this summer saying how they are going to win the league since Louis van Gaal took over). They also complain when they don't spend enough money but then complain when a big money deal is done*.

With regards to Wisdom, he seemed to do well for Derby last year. It may be one league lower but given the chance I think they would have liked to have him back. Maybe he just needs more time to get used to his new team mates/tactics.

Not a done deal yet (a fee was agreed for Loic Remy but that deal fell through). So far Liverpool have just agreed a fee with AC Milan, they still need to agree terms with Mario and have a medical. I would think if it does go through then Borini will be going as he will be further down the pecking order.

I will be amazed if this falls through though as way back before our US tour Brendan Rodgers said 'I can guarantee Balotelli will be at Liverpool next season'. An ye get Borini gone as he will never get used if it does go through. So many attacking options when everyone is fit. Balotelli, Sturridge, Lambert, Sterling, Lallana, Markovic, Assaidi, Ibe, Suso and if we really needed to get Origi back.
