The football thread!

The whole Sureaz makes me sick. What a tool all he needed to do was shake evras hand. What a first class dick. Good to luck to villa today hope keane and bent stick a couple pass city :D

I don't get what the fuss is. So Suarez didn't shake Evra's hand. Big deal. Why is there a need for a hand shake at the start of the match anyway as players don't respect each other or else why would you get players diving for pens/free kicks or waving imaginary cards at officials to get rival players booked/sent off.

As for the hand ball at the World Cup - if it had been reversed and a Ghanaian player who handled and Ghana went through to the final they would have been celebrating instead. If Rooney had done if it to help England to the final we would have been celebrating. At the end of the day he did what he did to help his team win.

Reading supporter here.

Bad start to the season, but they're back in the swing of things now. With the new Russian owner it means plenty of cash to go around (albeit in 'slightly limited' terms).

I see us getting knocked out of the play-off semifinals his year, probably against Cardiff.

technically speaking, it's like he's admiting the one thing he's always denied, being racist. If he didn't mean it, u'd shake hands and move on.

I couldn't take that a second year running. Last year was bad enough, but this year I actually plan to move to Cardiff...Wembley was very awesome though and I would go again in a heartbeat.

How are you feeling about the new owners? I'm surprised to see chunks of negative reaction to it. I don't think Madejski would endanger the club after all he has done for us. Loving the fact we have Jason Roberts though, although our other new signings are showing good signs of promise too.

Loving how tight the Championship is this season. As it looks like we have a fair few fans of teams in this division, who does everyone think will go up?

But there's not much point having a game if you don't follow the rules. It's like using cheat codes to complete a game - You'd have done it, yeah, but not legitimately. Personally, I think technology is now sufficiently advanced to allow video refereeing to quickly put an end to all these daft grievances.

Did someone piss in your cereal today? Just askin'.

I've hated ever Suarez since he cheated Ghana out of the World Cup. Could have done without Evra celebrating at the end of the match though.
Oh yeah, I'd almost forgotten that was him! Although I do agree with mangaman in the sense that the real problem there was the rules that don't allow a goal to be awarded automatically in those situations. Most other sports (say, penalty tries in rugby, or being out for handling the ball and stopping it from hitting the stumps in cricket) have something in the rules to make that a moot point.

The Evra stuff was quite annoying, how he didn't think to himself "if I just don't act like a knob for a minute here, I will end up looking pretty good" I don't know.

As Ryo said, it is tantamount to saying "I am not shaking your hand because you are black". When you add that in to his reaction towards Valencia at half time, it's not a good look.

Surprised that I haven't seen this Before!

Liverpool Fan (also kind of like Wrexham who have a very good shout of Promotion to the Football League this year :)) & a Football Manager Addict!

Also what I've just seen, Now That's Passion! Congrats Zambia, What an unbelievable shootout! Inspirational Stuff!

I guess the negative reaction is to do with how unusual the situation is and some may think that a Leicester situation may arise. But no, as you've said Madejski knows what he's doing (hell, they might as well rename Reading as Madejskiville for his shrewd increasing domination of the town), he always said he's waiting for the right person to come along and has waited quite awhile. A few new signings without making any real bank breaking purchases is so far so good.

And yes, Wembley was :( But I did go up thinking that Swansea were going to win, so it wasn't THAT big a shame. To rub salt into the wound our bus driver got lost on the way back and we spent about an hour roaming Wembley and Harrow

West Ham, Cardiff and Birmingham are my guess for promotion (Southampton are on a inconsistent slide).

Hey a divegrass thread! Anyway, Arsenal Fan here (Been that way since I was 7) and ten points behind Spurs. Only problem we have is that Chelsea are below us and have the same points and goal difference we have. And they're facing Bolton on Saturday while we're facing Spurs.

Undoubtedly a talented player, but just as likely to jeff things up as to score a wonder goal!

Having had Alan Smith at Leeds who was just as prone to getting red cards as well as scoring goals, I think Balotelli's alright as long as he keeps performing when he's actually on the pitch. You can tell he wants to play football, just lets the red mist come down way too easily.

Off the pitch I'm not so sure about him, all the funny incidents are offset by the fact he threw darts at people! Have to feel for Mancini who is probably tearing his hair out in frustration.

Taking Chelsea's recent form into account, I think Bolton have a shot at three points.

He's a manchild that doesn't know how to respect people.

Bayern Munich! I just love the German league - it's so exciting!

I'm not too fond of any of my local teams (Liverpool / Everton / Tranmere) which I think might be because people are always telling me I should be supporting them and i'm just like 'wth no I will support a team I enjoy watching tyvm'.

We've had a rough start to the year but this week has been good! Beat Stuttgart in the cup and had a good league win on Saturday. Freiburg is the next match and they sold their good striker Cisse in the winter transfer so it should be a really easy win.

2 of Bayerns best players are out with injuries at the moment though so our Champs league matches against Basel will be tough.

Ouch! We made the decision to go by train, however we decided to go quite early so we missed a huge lunchtime rush - although returning after the game via train was horrendous. It's a shame that we somewhat capitulated in the first half, but that was almost an unbelievable comeback. Such a shame Jem's shot hit the post.

I'm not sure about Cardiff. Every time they set themselves up to finish really strongly and then lose it in some way. Agreed on the other two though, and I highly suspect Southampton will be in the playoffs but won't get promoted. They weren't that impressive when they came to us, despite salvaging a draw.

Blackpool obv

I can see a Blackpool against Cardiff/Birmingham play off final, whomever doesn't make automatic promotion. It would be rather good and exciting. I do quite like Holloway and it'd be good to see him have another shot at the premiership.
