Overseas The Aniplex Thread

View attachment 33519
Announced at Sakura Con that Gurren Lagann The Movie, featuring both -Childhood's End- & -The Lights In The Sky Are Stars-, are to be released by Aniplex of America later in the year on 4K UHD Blu-ray. No Pricing was stated (expect it won't be cheap, obviously).

These were released in Japan on 4K UHD with English subs, however it's almost certain the newly recorded English dub of these (featuring almost all of the cast returning from the TV Series) will be new and exclusive to this release.

I wonder if AL will be able to release this though the movies have been OOP for years so I'd assume they don't have the license anymore.

The Gurren Lagann Double Feature compilation films are now scheduled for 4K Ultra HD - 2nd July 2024.

Retails for SRP $169.98 and on the Crunchyroll Store for $135.98 (£109.62, as of $1=80p rate).

Dolby Atmos is also featured for both audio tracks, however HDR is not mentioned in the specs outside of the generic disclaimer.

I'm probably going to cave soon enough and get the Aniplex releases for the rest of Demon Slayer (and other titles) despite the price.

I know we've gone round in circles saying this but what the hell is up with Aniplex titles not being released over here. Is it because our releases are affordable compared and they don't like that, no idea.

Like Demon Slayer, Kaguya-sama, Mashle etc. are popular shows, I'd understand maybe some of the more niche titles not releasing but these no excuse. Especially when we get cinema releases as well for the likes of Demon Slayer, Kaguya-sama and SAO.

Does anyone have any clue about the region compatibility of the Demon Slayer Collector’s Edition sets?

This is the first Aniplex release I've wanted since Right Stuf died. What are the options for importing Aniplex titles now? Is it possible to avoid having to go through a proxy like Stackry?
I think Crunchyroll have now started allowing imports as they have changed their site to allow you to add it to basket. Though someone correct me if I am wrong.

I've ordered direct from Crunchyroll to my address in the UK, so yes they allow imports. Unlike RS where you prepaid VAT you don't with CR, so expect a nice ransom to pay before you get your stuff.

Urk, looks like Crunchyroll charge $40 for shipping to the UK. I don't know if that's a flat rate or a minimum.

Also, their bargain-basement merchant software doesn't allow non-US phone numbers to be added to your account, which prevents adding a non-US address. The official word I got from their customer service is to enter a fake US phone number (yes, really), then let them know my real phone number after placing an order so they can change it for me. That doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. Looks like they've been telling people to do that for a long time, based on a quick search.

When I ordered direct from CR to the UK shipping was $35.99 and that was for 5 items.

Plus I managed to put in my UK phone number by playing around with it. Can't quite remember but I think I left out the first zero. It seemed like it when the number is the same length as a US phone number.

Apple Pay also works, so if that’s an option for you, try that. Also $35.99 seems to be the flat rate for shipping as that’s what I’ve paid.
