...Emma? You're surely a braver man than me: found that so dull was compelled to shift my TRS DVD sets (after finishing S2~). 'Tis a pity 'Bride Story' never got adapted, as that has more colourful female characters--Emma may as well have been a maid android.

That aside, I felt a competitive urge at the sight of thy screenshota. Thus:

-- Lupin own Part 5, never having watched ofc. Thanks to a prior AL sale, also ofc. It needs a friend.
-- Kaiji already owned S1. Why not add more tat.
-- Penguin iirc 4/10'd the TV series after 'F' lent it meee, due to the ending/last half/idk. The movies give me a chance to behold the little sister(?) transformation sequence, one more time~ For £6.99. 'Tis a bargain, surely!
-- Garden Words I kindasorta want, to replace my standard ed and go with 5cm/Place Promised steelbooks (that I'm not too sure why, exactly, I own tbh). Children I kindasorta don't want but given the other three and needed over £50 or shipping... mnehek?

Also, the 10% code: 'SCHOOLUNIFORM', really? Made meeee feel like a pedo, in addition to a fool for ordering more AL anime that I'll never watch. I don't know whoooo decided on this whole 'back to school' themed sale - hopefully Andrew - but they ain't fooling me. And I ain't no 'Chuunibyou'!

VRE is one of those shows that worked far better for me with the excellent English dub as then I could just watch it half-in-the-background without having to focus in on the slow pace to read subtitles. I only own Volume 1 of A Bride's Story, your recommendation makes me that bit more interested in actually reading it and then if I like it perhaps acquiring the rest of the volumes to read as well - our tastes don't always align but I was vaguely wanting to get around to it even before you mentioned it tbf. I haven't actually placed an order in this sale yet tbh - the only three things that are really cheap (AKA not just early bird reduxes that I'd rather wait to get the standard edition of for a fraction of the price) that I'd seriously consider that aren't either subbed only/badly dubbed so kinda same difference for me, or things I already own that I don't see a point to buying again are:

Golden Time - I love it but as noted I do already own the Sentai dubbed and subbed standard edition, and P&P bumps up costs a tad for small orders.

The Place Promised in Our Early Days/Voices of a Distant Star - I really do enjoy both of these but again I do already own the standard release.

The Deer King - I would like to see this too but I'd just as happily wait for the Xmas sale to buy and watch the standard edition of it as it's reception was quite mixed anyway.

Not really griping here btw, just being honest as to why I haven't placed an order this time, like, I'm glad if I can save my money, and it means more left to maybe spend a bit of on something else I want that's a film or series on Blu-ray (I ordered that Jiri Trnka two-film set with The Czech Year and Old Czech Legends included, might buy some Discotek or Sentai imports as well, for example) :)
 
Schadows house season 2 from amazon.

Man, amazon makes me really aware how much I play in additional costs: Anime: 25 euro. Shipping: 22 euro. Import costs: 10 euro.
Its expensive even with a sale going on. Still, I really really love this series (hope there will be a season 3 at one point) and I don't want to bet on an UK release, so this will have to do. Happy to own it:)

Can't remember if viewed Emma dubbed tho that's deffo a series you don't want to be reading in the dark, tired.

Bride Story worked in contrast (for meee) because of its mini-arc structure evading boredom/tedium. Each feature different (although sometimes returning) heroines. The more.... feminine angle on muslim culture x silk road historical fiction is also more unique/insightful than a maid servant and rich noble romance. Regarding v1, iirc Bride starts strong with an unusual scenario as an older girl that is a skilled hunter has an arranged marriage with a much younger boy, and from there the series has a good mix of tragedy and comedy. My fav ofc being the energetic insync twins that come as a package deal.

Given our Good/Evil versions of each other differences, can't say for sure if you'd like it. I'ma bad person, see. It does however feature knitting prominently--the women in the families pass down complicated embroidery 🪡 from mother/grandmother to daughter. So, there's that. I daresay that would interest you more than me given creativity etc. Maybelline.

Think I own 13 volumes and read 12. Lost focus/interest waiting between books. Barely been any new vols last looked.

As for the sale, films like Deer King and Hula Hula/whatever prob are never gonna be cheap enough to appeal. The anime movie industry unless Shinkai or Chainsaw Man/Hathaway is largely TV movie level in presentation. Feels like all we get are cheap kids' films or dime a dozen rushed romance flick, unless attached to a big name. I miss Madhouse's Kawajiri/Kon moviefilms. Mneh.

It does sound cool and I'm guessing my fondness for the creator's other series wouldn't hurt either. That's largely not my opinion of you. I get the losing interest between volumes, I had that a bit with Yun Kouga's Loveless (I wish it would be properly completed someday!). I really would like to see Hula Fulla Dance, I just want it to be dubbed in English (well, I would add), before I watch it ideally. This is reminding me that I've yet to watch Blue Giant which has an English dub but it's not on the CE/Deluxe Edition that I bought boos in a Simpsons-esque but relatively jokingly polite heckler kind of a way It's funny rn I am rewatching A Little Snow Fairy Sugar and that is on DVD and while there is a dub I wasn't overly enamoured with it so I'm watching it subbed... there's prob some sort of fancy word for that...
