I guess by EDE you mean collection. Was this the collection released in the UK or the US? If it was the UK, what style of box was it? M-lock (the fat oversized DVD case with lots of flaps for holding DVD's inside), or a proper box with thinpak DVD's?

Well i actually bought the seperet DVD's, thought the ADV stall had bundled them all together for 20 quid. There was a boxset, which was £25, but since the only difference was a not so shiny box (as they were both the thicker DVD's) decided to save the fiver difference.

Ah I see, so ADV are still marketing their crap oversized M-lock things. I wonder if they notice that they're the only company not making any effort for the UK. They should take a hint from Beez especially, and MVM. I won't be buying any more of ADV's UK releases unless they bother with making some nice releases. How bad could it really be, putting their upcoming collections of Excel Saga, Last Exile and Elfen Lied into some nice thinpak collections; with an artbox. Hell they've got their American counterparts making them. Shame on you ADV.

EDIT: And by the looks of it, they're even putting a fugly "Anime Classics Collections" blue banner across the top of the case.. Yuck

EDIT 2: -vomit-. They even price their collections, for the same price in dollars as they do sterling. Elfen Lied collection R1 (in a sexy artbox with thinpak cases), $50, on DVD Pacific it's $25, so you can get it to the UK for about £16/£17. Elfen Lied fugly collection UK (in a bit fat brick), £50, wow ADV what a nice price cut, £10 off, aren't we lucky. £40. Great.

Psh, the M-Lock cases are fine and the ADV classics banner isn't even that bad. In a perfect worls I'd have all my anime series in M-Lock collection cases because they are small and hardly take up any room at all. The only thing I object to with these ADV boxset releases is the price. Those need to be cut before I consider buying them.

Thanks to Nyu's reccomendation, I picked up New Dominion Tank Police today for €10. Considering it's 6 episodes long, that's a bargain price I paid! ^_^

At JapanEX,
ADV had the Elfen Lied box set in a nice single DVD sized set. While Excel Saga is still in a M-Lock, Elfen Lied is getting a brilliant case, with brilliant 'stock' art work.

I am going to have to wait to get the Elfen Lied box set now, , i needed more money for the expo.

It depends on the series and how hard it is to get the individual volumes. At the moment I'm concentrating on just the artboxes. If I had more money I would fill them, but I don't, so I can't right now.

sure if your loaded then there is no problem, but it would be worthwhile to check into a series but reading reviews, watch trailers , and if possible watch some eps of the actual anime. then the purchases would be worth it....

I'm just mad about artboxes. And buying entire series, as I know I will like it; I like all anime. It just so happens I'm not totally loaded so I can only afford to get artboxes at the moment (which are more limited edition anyway).

Damn the need of getting a job in order to fuel the anime addiction, my savings are dwindling yet again.... Wish me luck in applying for a job today guys, i'm trying to get into Waterstones so i can get some discounts on the limited manga they have in there (plus the horrendously expensive philosophy, history and english books my course necessitates!)
