Summer Streaming Announcements...

Silver Spoon was pretty much a given for me from the moment I heard the words "farming comedy", but I'm actually kind of intrigued by Watamote too. CR picking up both certainly assures me that my subscription money is well spent.

Field Report;
Genshiken 2nd Season; yep, that's more Genshiken all right and if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna find my iv kit so I can just pump it into my vains.

Daybreak Illusion; Oh boy where do even I start on this one?
There's like five points in the episode that would have been better start points. The whole "becoming a zonder will lead you to die because angel cores and synchronization and time buggery, I guess." gag, besides being Luke's Father levels of overused, is emotionally manipulative to the point that you know one of them is gonna go zonder and everyone will be sad when they have to kill her.
And that stuff about the plant tentacles? Forget it.
You can tell by the costume designs that this is an animated cosplay catalogue.

Kinmoza: Yeah, there's no way an eight year old made it all the way to London without incident. Also, the scouse Engrish at play is pretty hilarious. But all said, it's Girls and Cake with a first part where I expected to see Layton running around solving mysteries in a version of London that doesn't exist. Inoffensive, but it's nothing that hasn't been done a million times before.

Crunchyroll Adds “SILVER SPOON”, “The World God Only Knows: Goddesses” and “WATAMOTE” Anime to Streaming Lineup

The smoke has barely cleared on today’s Crunchyroll panel at Anime Expo 2013 where seven new anime series have just been announced for the summer streaming lineup.

They are SILVER SPOON; The World God Only Knows: Goddesses; WATAMOTE ~No Matter How I Look at It, It’s You Guys Fault I’m Not Popular!~; Makai Ouji: Devils and Realist, THE ECCENTRIC FAMILY; YAMISHIBAI: JAPANESE GHOST STORIES, SUNDAY WITHOUT GOD.

Full details on start dates, regions, story and background info on each are below...

SILVER SPOON, is set to broadcast on Thursday July 11 at 11:45 am Pacific Time. Premium users will be able to view SILVER SPOON immediately upon broadcast, with free users able to view one week after initial Crunchyroll broadcast. More information can be found on www.crunchyroll.com/silver

Hokkaido native and author of Fullmetal Alchemist and Hero Tales – Hiromu Arakawa – will have her SILVER SPOON story brought to life by Marie Miyake (Penguindrum, Hiiro no Kakera) and Ryohei Kimura (Eden of the East, Star Driver, Haganai), who will be portraying our protagonists: Aki Mikage and Yugo Hachiken.

“The only reason why Yugo Hachiken decides to attend the Oezo Agricultural High School (a.k.a Ezono) was simply because the school had a dormitory. At first, entering Ezono was a way for Yugo to run away from the fact that he failed to endure the stifling academic pressures at his preparatory school back in Sapporo. But, it doesn’t take long for Yugo to realize that life is just not that simple, and he is forced to face more hurdles in his new environment surrounded by all the farm animals and the magnificent Mother Nature. For Yugo, who was raised in a home environment far from farm life, the training and the club activities at Ezono are all too unfamiliar for him making every day a struggle.

Yugo also begins feeling a different kind of pressure from when he attended the preparatory school as he deals with many of his classmates who, compared to him, all have a much clearer view of what they want for their futures. But, as Yugo faces one challenge after another at Ezono and strengthens his bonds with his classmates, he begins to grow stronger both physically and mentally… This is a coming-of-age story filled with sweat, tears, and literally a lot of dirt.”

He left four sons behind: Yasaburo, the third son who inherited a rich strain of his great father’s “idiot blood”; Yaichiro, the diligent eldest son who has a tough time pulling through in a pinch; Yajiro, the second eldest who secludes himself in a well as a frog; and Yashiro, the timid youngest brother who shows his tail at the drop of a hat.

They all live happily with their mother, a serious Takarazuka fan, with the motto that, “What is fun, is good.” After taking care of Professor Akadama, a retired Great Tengu, being manipulated by the beautiful Benten, a human girl with divine powers, and fighting air-battles against their rivals, the Ebisugawa family, in the night sky over the Daimonji Gozan Fire Festival, the Shimogamo family suddenly finds itself in a desperate fix.

New Summer Simulcasts: Gatchaman Crowds

Hey everyone, hope you've all enjoyed the excitement that was Anime Expo! We've got another title coming your way this summer with the announcement of Gatchaman Crowds launching on Friday, July 12, 2013 at 11:30am Pacific Time in the following territories: U.S.A, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands, Turkey, Spain, Portugal, France, the Caribbean, South and Central America.

‘Gatchaman’ is the general term for warriors who wear special power suits called NOTE, which are manifestations of special spiritual powers possessed by living beings. The Gatchaman force on Earth consists of aliens who have been dispatched by a council and Earthlings who have been scouted for their latent abilities, all of whom work together to protect Earth's people and resources from alien criminals who have invaded the planet in violation of the probation enforced by the council. Most recently, their main duty is dealing with MESS, a mysterious entity about which even the council has little knowledge.”

and with that, Crunchyroll fill up their simulcast boxes, but still have two back catalogue boxes vacant. No fanfare, so maybe more simulcasts are being negotiated.

I think all of the other shows I might actually have watched have been grabbed by Funi/Viz, so it's not likely they'll be appearing on Crunchyroll :(

(I'm still locked out of Daisuki's Aniplex titles - if anyone else is still affected could they please let me know their ISP as supporting evidence for the ongoing support call I have open?)

R

Going in the opposite direction, working for me on Virgin (when Media Hint* is turned off) and also OK from my work's network.

* Having been reminded of Media Hint (which I installed ages ago and forgot about) I've been going on a Hulu binge (sick to the back teeth of core body reformer ads).

Don't like Daisuki's player?

Daisuki now have a Youtube Channel

Not all the shows are up there, but unique to the site is the School Days series, and Little Witch Academia is back up on Youtube as well, courtesy of them

Sword Art Online is streaming at up to 1080p on YT, and without the variable bit rate player to confuse things that must be good.

Crunchyroll are updating their back catalogue and have added Love Lab for streaming and it looks like it's available to the UK.

Fujisaki Girls Academy, commonly known as "Fujijo," is famous for being attended by distinguished young ladies. Stubborn, righteous, and known as "the wild one," student council president aide Riko. Brilliant, beautiful, just, and admired by all students as "Miss Fujisaki," student council president Maki. Shy, easily embarrassed, and clumsy, student council secretary Suzu. Charmingly thick eyebrows and fluffy hair, student council vice president Eno. Money-loving and coolly watching everyone study from behind her glasses, treasurer Sayo.

They've also added the rest of Rozen Mozen, and Jubei Chan the Ninja Girl, but those seem to be region locked.

Daisuki has updated their catalogue with the addition of more Aniplex titles; Day Break Illusion, Servant x Service and Silver Spoon.

Although Monogatari Second Season remains Japanese streaming service DAISUKI's big draw for the summer season, the service has today added three more summer shows to its line-up complete with UK availability.

Specifically, the company has now made the first four episodes of Servant x Service and Day Break Illusion, and the first five episodes of Silver Spoon, available to view for free on the site, with further episodes to follow at the provided links. Of course, all three of these series are also available and fully up-to-date on Crunchyroll.

It is also available for UK viewers to watch, as seen here.

Daisuki have recently blocked quite a bit out of the UK, especially on YouTube and have removed Little Witch Academia.
